Top 5 CoD maps we want to see return in Black Ops Cold War

Andrew Highton

Every Call of Duty game launches with some brand new maps that try and learn from its predecessors to make the best level possible. But it’s hard to ignore the classics, so here are 5 CoD maps that need to make an appearance in BOCW.

Crossroads, Moscow, Checkmate, and Garrison are some of the fantastic maps that launched with the beginning of Treyarch’s Black Ops Cold War. We’ve seen the addition of some new maps in BOCW and one in particular stands out, Nuketown ’84.

Whatever your opinion of Nuketown, there’s a reason it continually returns in pretty much every Black Ops game – it’s insanely popular. Fan favorites are always welcome and BLOPS has had a litany of great maps down the years. Here are a select few we’d love to see make a triumphant return.

Firing Range

A map that has featured regular appearances since its inception in the original Black Ops. It’s a mostly small map littered with all kinds of cover, meaning you can approach the map in so many ways.

It also looks fantastic, most games have an introductory firing range or training area, but seldom do you actually get to battle in it.

Hijacked

The big boat appears in BLOPS4 and COD: Mobile, but it doesn’t feel like enough love has been shown to Hijacked. It’s a fairly symmetrical map meaning there’s no one spot to dominate.

It’s also a very picturesque map being on the sea with the sun blazing on you as you put 3 bullets in someone’s head. A 2020 makeover could be just what Hijacked needs.

Summit

There haven’t been too many successfully snowy maps to our mind, but this might be the standout one of the bunch. Summit has so many different buildings and paths that it’s easy to become a ghost amongst the snow.

It boasts some tremendous verticality too as you’ve got the base level, the cliffside path that descends to the far side, and multiple buildings with upstairs viewpoints.

Havana

This one makes the list because it’s basically a reincarnation of CoD4’s legendary Crossfire map, which is close to perfection. It uses the same Z structure for its maps and its middle lane practically dissects the whole map.

It’s just a stellar map for any game mode and any situation. It promotes lots of fighting across the street, whilst you’re hiding between buildings and trying to find that perfect spot to execute a top play.

Hanoi

Just like how Summit is a rare example of a snow map, Hanoi is a great example of a night map in all its glory. Set in a Vietnamese Prison, Hanoi is a big map with so much detail and the implication behind it is rather grim – given the splatters of blood everywhere. The weird thing about it? It’s never featured in another CoD game, this needs to change.

The map’s middle features a big circular set of buildings that loop around each other, which can lead to tense chases. There’s plenty of higher-up windows for sniping and the lessened visibility, outside, makes sure you’re aware of your surroundings at all times.
