Steam adds support for PS5 DualSense controller

Steam users can now use the new PS5 DualSense controller while playing their favorite games on the platform.

The PS5’s DualSense controller is the most talked about feature of the next-gen console. Steam has taken note of this and has announced its plans to support it.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 has arrived, and it’s in such high demand that you’ll be lucky to get one. This next-gen console comes with many impressive features such as 4K video, 60 FPS, Ray tracing, and exclusive titles that have won over players.

The most popular feature is the DualSense controller, which gives haptic feedback while you’re playing. This lets you experience every impact, recoil, and rumble like never before. Now, Valve has officially stated that Steam will offer support to this controller.

Steam’s Latest Update

Steam’s latest client beta update has made the platform compatible with the new controller. You can connect it through Bluetooth or with a USB-C cable. The following changes have been made to the Steam Input API:

  • Implemented rumble over Bluetooth for the PS5 controller
  • Reduced rumble intensity for the PS5 controller
  • Allow external audio based haptics while rumble is enabled on the PS5 DualSense controller

Steam will recognize the controller and show the correct button prompts while also gaining access to the LED, trackpad, rumble, and gyro features. Players will now get to use the PS5 controller with games that require the Steam Input API.

So far, Valve’s hasn’t announced any plans for the DualSense’s adaptive triggers, but they will release the support after beta testing is done.

How To Access The Steam Beta Client

You can test out this new feature by heading over to the Steam client beta. Here is how you use it:

  1. Open the Steam Menu
  2. Enter “Settings” and then open up “Account”
  3. Click “Change” under Beta Participation
  4. Select the PS4 controller (it’s actually the DualSense controller for PS5)

The option will be renamed to “PS5 controller” once Valve makes a profile for it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

What to expect in Season 1 of Black Ops Cold War and Warzone

Black Ops: Cold War Season 1 is getting closer and closer. Here’s what to expect.

Season 1 of Black Ops Cold War will bring new content and a huge change to Call of Duty: Warzone.

Season 1 is fast approaching for Black Ops: Cold War and Warzone, due to release on December 10th, 2020.

This will be a huge update for both titles and finally bridge the two games together for player progression. It will also be the first time Warzone will transition from one Call of Duty to another, which will be a crucial moment in Activision’s plan to make Warzone a feature to accompany every future Call of Duty game.

Here’s all you need to know about the upcoming season.

Cross Progression

In a nutshell, cross-progression is coming to Modern Warfare, Warzone & Black Ops Cold War. No matter which Call of Duty experience you choose to play, you will still be ranking up weapons across Warzone and Cold War.

When the update drops on December 10th, expect some Black Ops Cold War weapons to be available in Warzone and the gunsmith for use. The new battle pass also has shared progression between the titles, so the weapons in Black Ops Cold War’s battle pass will also be in Warzone.

Level-up weapons and core progression level across multiple Call of Duty experiences come season one.

If you’d like to know more about this system, we have a full breakdown in this article: Black Ops Cold War Prestige System: Seasonal, Master Ranks

New Content

Coming to the game will also be brand new multiplayer maps, game modes, weapons, and a new warzone experience.

  • Maps – Currently, all we know is that Nuketown (pictured below) will be coming on November 24th. More maps will be dropping for multiplayer at Season 1’s launch.
  • Gamemodes – 2v2 gunfight will be making a return from Modern Warfare for its first appearance in the Black Ops universe. There will also be brand new zombie modes.
  • Classified Warzone Experience – It is rumored that this experience will be the return of the Alcatraz island blackout map, however, it will be Cold War/Soviet themed.
  • Additional game modes for core multiplayer.

Cosmetics Return

The Call of Duty store will be fully-functional with new bundles when Season 1 drops. Packs obtained from the store will have disclaimers on them, clearly stating if you can use your cosmetics in both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.

All unlockable items in the Battle Pass will be available for use in both games, however, the in-game store may be different in terms of game availability, depending on the pack you purchase.

Your COD points will carry between all games, but not across platforms. If you’re switching from console to PC, or from Xbox to PlayStation, remember to spend your COD points before you make the switch. They are platform-locked.

This update will be one of the largest ever brought to Call of Duty, with major changes across Warzone, Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War. All players, regardless of which game they prefer, will benefit from the new season.

GTA Online Cayo Perico heist: new details revealed

New details about GTA Online’s latest heist have come to light.

GTA Online is bringing us to Cayo Perico in their upcoming heist.

Earlier this week, Rockstar Games released a teaser trailer for the latest GTA Online update. We found out a few details about the new heist called the Cayo Perico. It will also serve as a map expansion by adding a whole new island to the world of Los Santos.

The heist is scheduled for release on December 15. Take a look at the new trailer for the update below.

After the trailer dropped, Rockstar made a new blog post in which they laid out some new information about the event. In it they told players:

“Prepare to infiltrate the remote island compound of the world’s most notorious drug dealer in Grand Theft Auto Online’s biggest, most daring, and action-packed addition yet: The Cayo Perico Heist.

“It’s up to you to find a way to breach Cayo Perico, one of the most secure private islands in the entire world, evade or neutralize the heavily armed security forces stationed there, and escape with valuable evidence along with as much art, gold and drug money as you can carry.

“Choose your tools. Choose your approach. Choose your crew – or even go it entirely alone. Just make it back to Los Santos in one piece.

“The Cayo Perico Heist is the biggest GTA Online adventure ever, introducing an all-new exotic Heist location, with a brand-new approach to Heist design that features the ability to play everything solo or with up to three other players. Plus you can acquire new vehicles and tactical weapons, experience new social spaces to dance and party in with your friends, and new world-class guest DJs, and listen to new radio stations with over 100 new songs. Oh, and a very large, very versatile, and very heavily armed submarine HQ with plenty of other surprises.”

The description implies that we’ll most likely get to the new island via a submarine. At the very least, the underwater vessel will come into play in some manner during the heist.

This is the first map expansion in GTA Online, and it follows May’s Series A Funding heist. Rockstar is providing new details very quickly, so we’ll keep this piece updated as we learn more.
