Bug blocks players from leveling up in Black Ops Cold War League Play

A new bug in the League Play mode for Black Ops Cold War isn’t allowing players to level up their ranks with gems.

Black Ops Cold War’s League Play mode has had a shaky start, to say the least. For a mode that was supposed to emulate pro play, it was poorly received at launch by players due to its ranking system and ruleset, even referred to as a “joke” by some players.

Since its original release on February 8, 2021, League Play has slowly improved with ruleset updates from Treyarch. Unfortunately, these updates have not addressed the issue with the ranking system, and players are now discovering that the gems they earn in-game are seemingly meaningless.

In a Reddit post by user lxrcombe, they noted that once receiving their gems for their League Play placement, the game actually showed the user having negative gems, which meant that progression to the next rank would be impossible.

As you can see in the picture above, the Reddit user has -6 gems, a far shot from the required 3 to progress to the next rank.

Fortunately, it seems like this bug is merely a visual glitch for the player, as Treyarch community manager, Josh Torres or @FoxHoundFPS, states on Twitter, “We’re aware of this visual issue. Everything is right on the backend, and we should be releasing a fix for this in a future game settings update.”

Hopefully, a proper fix will be released in the coming weeks so players are no longer confused about their League Play ranks. Rest assured, our League Play ranks are accurate on the back-end and the visual bug will be fixed soon.
