SuperData Research has released their video game industry this morning, following NPD Group’s release last night. Just like NPD, SuperData’s info is just for the US market.

SuperData has reported that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the best selling game of the month in October in US, earning the highest revenue for the month. They have reported that Black Ops 4 sold 4.2 million units digitally in the month, which is a new record for single month digital sales on consoles.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 sets a new high mark for console digital units. We estimate Black Ops 4 sold an estimated 4.2 million units in October on consoles, a new single month record for digital console sales. PC sales also grew significantly year-over-year, but still represent a small minority of the user base.

SuperData also reported that Red Dead Redemption 2 is right on Black Ops 4’s tail in terms of sales, with 4 million digital units sold in its first 7 days of availability.

Overall, the game industry had its best October ever with Call of Duty and Red Dead pushing the industry forward.

Consumers spent $1.53 billion digitally on console games in October, up 80% year-over-year and setting a new record for the platform. Growth was underpinned by the strong launches of Call of Duty and Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as a favorable comparison against a nascent Fortnite last October. Specifically, full game download revenue surpassed $1 billion for the first month ever.
