CoD: Mobile Season 7’s Reaper – Ashura mecha skin might be the coolest ever
Call of Duty: Mobile has teamed up with famed Japanese mecha designer Shoji Kawamori to design a brand-new Reaper skin, and it might be one of the most awesome cosmetics in the game.
CoD: Mobile Season 7 is well underway, with the major update introducing new maps like Scrapyard 2019 and Monastery, and a huge collab with Puerto Rican musician Ozuna.
The good news is that this isn’t the only big partnership this season, with CoD: Mobile teaming up with renowned Japanese mecha designer Shoji Kawamori to design a special character skin based on the giant machines.
Mechas are essentially giant robots found in science-fiction genres which are controlled by humans, but move and look human. Mechas are hugely popular, especially in Japan, and while Reaper won’t be turning into a giant, the character is getting an amazing coat of paint thanks to Kawamori.
“When I was thinking about the mecha design of the robot weapons in Call of Duty: Mobile, which has a military-style worldview, I incorporated an ‘anime feel’ to achieve a balance that is more human, while still retaining a mecha vibe,” he explained about his design process.
The skin itself is mostly white, but features a skull and crossbones above the golden visor on its face. Accented with red, this is by far one of the most interesting Reaper skins ever, one which Kawamori hopes players will enjoy using.
The good news is that we won’t have long to wait to get our hands on the Legendary Reaper – Ashura skin, as it will be available in Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 from 5PM PDT / 8PM EST / 1AM BST on September 9.
