CoD Mobile players are wondering if the game is shutting down after Microsoft’s comments concerning their plans for the title surfaced. With Warzone Mobile on the horizon, here’s what you need to know about the future of CoD Mobile.

CoD Mobile players are currently enjoying the second season of the new year as Season 2 Heavy Metal arrived on February 22. The incredibly popular mobile game continues to grow with new seasonal content arriving regularly, dating back to the game’s launch in 2019.

As a result of the constant updates and massive mobile gaming market, CoD Mobile managed to cultivate a dedicated community of players who continue to support the game.

Despite CoD Mobile’s success, recent comments from Microsoft have put the future of the game in question and fans want to know if CoD Mobile is shutting down.

Is Warzone Mobile going to phase out CoD Mobile?

As of now, Activision confirmed that CoD Mobile is not and will not be shutting down.

The recent confusion surrounding the future of CoD Mobile stems from Microsoft’s pending acquisition of Activision. If the major deal goes through, Microsoft will have the final say when it comes to Call of Duty titles, including ongoing games like CoD Mobile.

In a response to the UK government’s Competition and Markets Authority, Microsoft suggested that “CoD: Mobile is expected to be phased out over time (outside of China) with the launch of Warzone Mobile.”

Warzone Mobile is expected to launch in 2023 and it seems Microsoft are excited at the potential the new title brings to the table.

While Microsoft have not provided official news of CoD Mobile’s future alongside Warzone Mobile, the acquisition will play a huge role in proceedings and could determine whether or not CoD Mobile will be shut down.

The latest development in this story arrived on March 13 as Activision issued a statement promising that they’d continue to support CoD Mobile with content and updates “for the long haul.”

Activision wasted no time in reassuring CoD Mobile players that they are committed to the continued support of the mobile title, even following the release of Warzone Mobile.

It’s clear that Activision view CoD Mobile as an “important part of the entire Call of Duty franchise.” However, it will be interesting to see if Microsoft share the same opinion if and when the acquisition goes through, as they will likely have the final say on the future of CoD Mobile.

As the legal issues concerning Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision rage on, we’ll keep you up to date with all of the latest news concerning the future of CoD Mobile.
