Modern Warfare 2 players were excited to hear that a Throwback Pack featuring weapon sounds from 2009 was arriving in Season 3 Reloaded, but it’s been labeled a major “miss” after the first details were revealed.

Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 Reloaded is set to arrive on May 10, bringing two new Handguns, the Alboran Hatchery 6v6 map, and much more.

Multiplayer fans were also pleased when it was announced that a throwback audio pack would arrive on the store. Although many felt they were “feeding off nostalgia,” others were excited to equip their loadout with authentic effects from Modern Warfare 2 2009.

However, when the first details of the audio pack were revealed in the Season 3 Reloaded blog, fans were extremely frustrated to learn that only two Weapon Blueprints would be included in the bundle.

The “Good ’Ol Days” Assault Rifle and “Lachmann Classic” SMG are the only weapons that will receive 2009 audio when the bundle drops in Season 3 Reloaded.

Reddit user ‘TSM-HabZ’ shared the news on the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit and players were quick to slam the decision, feeling it was a missed opportunity.

“I don’t understand how they can be so incompetent as to miss on such an absolute slam dunk like classic sounds for all the weapons,” replied ‘SufficientMarket7648.’ “They’re so f**king stupid dude.”

Other players were baffled by the decision to not apply the classic audio to all weapons and equipment, with one reply saying: “This should’ve affected every sound applicable. Semtexs, C4, killstreaks etc. My friends and I were gonna buy it… lost sale from at least 5 people.”

One of the main sources of anger was that the Intervention wasn’t included in the bundles, despite being one of the most iconic weapons from MW2 2009.

“They literally made a video about nostalgia for the new Intervention and it’s not one of the guns in here? F**king hell,” replied one player, with another agreeing: “They could’ve easily made bank on reintroducing a whole SUITE of OG sounds, like f**k, the intervention can’t even get the sound?”

Only time will tell if the devs plan to release more throwback audio packs for more weapons in Modern Warfare 2 Season 4 and beyond. With classic guns like the P90, M4, and AK-47 all in the game, there’s no shortage of options to choose from.
