First Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer images leaked by NFL players, confirming DMZ mode
American football team the Los Angeles Rams have been invited to play Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer early and the players have shared images of the menus, confirming the Tarkov-like DMZ mode exists.
Modern Warfare 2’s marketing has died down since the huge Modern Warfare 2 info dump and gameplay reveals back in June, but we can expect some info soon. The developers teased that there will be more news revealed at the CDL’s Championship Sunday event on August 7.
However, NFL team Los Angeles Rams have been playing the game recently and shared some now-deleted images of the game’s menu, while also confirming the leaked DMZ mode is real.
Rams kicker Cameron Dicker posted a screenshot of Modern Warfare 2’s menu, revealing that they were about to load into a game of Team Deathmatch on the leaked ‘Valderas Museum’ map. He wrote “Having fun on the new Call of Duty” over the top.
The post was quickly deleted and Dicker posted some generic key art instead, making it likely that the players weren’t supposed to post these screenshots.
There’s everything you’d expect in a CoD private match menu, including the ‘Play, Weapons, Operators, Barracks’ tabs at the top. Many of the assets including the menu icons are the same as Modern Warfare 2019 but it’s worth bearing in mind that this is probably a very early version of the game.
That wasn’t the only post though, as another player shared an image that confirmed that the heavily leaked DMZ mode exists. While the image is blurry, you can clearly see the ‘DMZ’ logo in the top right-hand corner.
Neither Activision nor Infinity Ward have confirmed DMZ’s existence, but leakers such as Tom Henderson and the Warzone Mobile data mines have revealed a ton about it. DMZ is set to be an extraction mode based on games like Escape from Tarkov, where players need to destroy supplies, find intel, and extract.
While Infinity Ward still haven’t so much as mentioned the mode, it’s now all but confirmed that it’s on the way to Modern Warfare 2.
If you can’t wait to jump into Modern Warfare 2, check out how to be in with a chance of earning early access to the beta by watching the CDL Champs 2022.
