Furious MW2 & Warzone 2 players demand refunds after LA Thieves skin nerfed
Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 players are up in arms after the devs decided to alter the LA Thieves skin, leaving players who paid for it angry and seeking compensation.
To celebrate the Call of Duty League, the devs launched 12 special skins for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 in the style of each franchise present in the CDL.
One, in particular, caught the eye though as the LA Thieves skin was an all-black affair with just the letters “LA” in red on the front of the outfit. This led to a ton of players purchasing it due to it being the closest thing to the infamous Roze skin in some time.
However, the devs appear to have backtracked as the Season 1 Reloaded update will make it so that the skin has a ton more red on it. This has led to a ton of backlash with players unhappy that the item they’ve paid for will be changed so drastically.
A picture showing the refreshed skin drew the ire of players, and as we reported, refunds will not be happening for disgruntled players due to a legal line saying: “Activision may update, replace, or remove this in-game content at any time.”
The general consensus is that the main reason the skin was purchased was because of its stealthy properties aided by it being mostly black.
“It was clearly a pay to win type skin. Read their terms and conditions and requirements to by [buy] microtransactions, they clearly state they can change it at any point,” said one Twitter user. Another one commented: “I don’t know, I feel like this was deliberate. They knew people were going to buy. Pretty much a money grab. Pretty pathetic but at least it’s still the best-looking CDL skin.”
Contrary to this, players are claiming that they actually have been able to secure refunds, at least through Battle.net.
So, if you’re someone who has invested in the LA Thieves CDL skin and you’re unhappy about the upcoming alterations to the outfit, then you might still be able to claim a refund.
