The Modern Warfare 2 developers have teased the arrival of a store bundle containing audio from the original 2009 title, and players are divided about how they feel about it.

Season 3 of Modern Warfare 2 has arrived, and fans of the Call of Duty title have plenty of fun new additions to check out, including the new Gunfight game mode and Intervention Sniper Rifle.

There is also more content to look forward to as the season progresses, such as a Store Bundle featuring classic 2009 audio. However, the announcement of this bundle has had a mixed response.

The developers confirmed the arrival of the ’09 Weapon Audio Bundle later in Season 3 in an official blog post, and while they didn’t reveal the exact contents, players are expecting to hear familiar weapon sounds from MW2 2009.

Many players are excited at the prospect of bringing back sounds from the classic Call of Duty title. One user on Twitter replied: “Honestly? That’s kinda awesome.” Another added: “YES! WE ROCKING THAT OG INTERVENTION!”

In a thread about the bundle in the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit, more players shared their thoughts, with some expressing their excitement over being able to relive their Modern Warfare 2 2009 memories.

One commenter replied: “Now that’s the kind of sh*t that they should be selling instead of BlackCell. Bet that tons of people will buy it just because of nostalgic value.” However, not all of the replies were positive.

Many users voiced their frustration with the fact that they’ll have to purchase the classic Modern Warfare 2 weapon sounds in a bundle rather than them being provided for free in the game.

The sentiment shared by many commenters was that “recycling” weapon sounds from the original MW2 isn’t worth spending money on. A few users described this as “feeding off of nostalgia.”

One user suggested that developers should “not charge for sounds and let us equip it as an option.” Another replied that it’s “ridiculous” that players should have to pay for in-game sounds.

Since the bundle hasn’t arrived in Modern Warfare 2 yet, players will just have to wait until later in Season 3 to see if it’s worth purchasing. This isn’t the only bit of Season 3 content that’s received criticism, as players also slammed the BlackCell skins for being “tacky.”
