Modern Warfare 2 devs tease Shoot the Ship could finally arrive soon
Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward has hinted that the popular Shoot the Ship playlist could make a return in the Season 2 update.
Since Modern Warfare 2 arrived back in October, players have been treated to a returning fan-favorite map with each new update. Season 1 brought Shoot House from Modern Warfare 2019, while Season 1 Reloaded added the classic Shipment map.
The arrival of both these maps made players hopeful that the popular Shoot the Ship game mode would also show its face in MW2. This playlist from the previous Modern Warfare would put both smaller maps on constant rotation, and was ideal for leveling up weapons or grinding camos.
Now, with Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 just a couple of weeks away, Infinity Ward have finally teased that the mode could drop soon.
On January 24, the developer posted a Twitter poll asking players to choose their favorite out of three different options: Shoot House, Shipment, and Shoot the Ship.
Given that both Shipment and Shoot House are already live in Modern Warfare 2, it appears that this survey is designed to test how the community feels about Shoot the Ship coming back.
As you’d expect, at the time of writing, Shoot the Ship is leading the poll with just over 46% of almost 150,000 votes. Shipment is in second place at just under 43% with a few hours still left to vote.
This isn’t the first time that CoD developers have used social media to gauge how fans feel about potential, as it was occasionally used in the original Warzone. It was usually a good indicator of what to expect in the next major update, although the Twitter post didn’t officially confirm that the same will be true for Shoot the Ship.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 is the next big patch on the cards after it was delayed by two weeks to February 15. The devs have already announced that large changes are coming to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 as they try to improve the community’s feelings toward both games.
So, if Shoot the Ship is still leading the poll when it closes on January 25, don’t be surprised to see the mode added in a future playlist update or when Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 rolls around.
