Modern Warfare 2 players jealous as Battlefield 2042 gets long-requested XP feature first
Modern Warfare 2 players are begging the devs to implement a long-requested feature after Battlefield 2042 receives it first.
The battle between first-person shooter games Battlefield and Call of Duty has been going on for years, and despite Battlefield 2042’s disappointing launch, the devs are making changes and providing updates to improve the experience.
Meanwhile, Call of Duty is flourishing with the release of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, breaking records. However, there is one feature in Battlefield 2042 that Modern Warfare 2 players are jealous of.
As part of a recent Battlefield 2042 update, DICE decided to make the XP boosts only count in-game time. This is something that Call of Duty fans have been calling for, as Double XP Tokens in Modern Warfare 2 tick down even when players are just waiting for a game in the lobby.
A Reddit user highlighted this in the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit, begging for Infinity Ward to “at least get on this level.”
The OP is clearly not the only one who feels this way either, as comments under the post share similar opinions. One comment reads that it would “be so awesome if double xp only counted in game time,” while others believe it could be a deliberate design choice.
According to one of the commenters, they “remember CoD’s XP boosts also counting in-game time,” believing “this nonsense started with MW19.”
They explain further, saying that having Double XP count only in-game time is “possible” but feel that it’s rather a “deliberate choice” of the devs.
It’s unclear whether or not we will see any changes to the way in which Double XP Tokens work in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. However, it’s unlikely considering it has been this way since MW2019.
