Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Multiplayer Gunfight 2v2 Mode features a tournament system in-game

A big feature of the Gunfight 2v2 mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that Infinity Ward showcased to us during our studio visit was an in-game tournament system from the ground up to support tournaments for the Gunfight mode.

The new tournament system creates its own bracket after a select amount of teams join and builds a bracket out for players to compete in and advance to win the Gunfight tournament.

The bracket system was showcased working to us at the studio visit, and all of us content creators part of the event got to actually test out the brackets. We were all joined into a special lobby and placed in a randomly generated bracket.

If you lost the match, you were eliminated from the bracket and could not play anymore in the tournament. Winning teams were advancing to the next rounds till the bracket was played out.

Infinity Ward mentioned they have ‘exciting’ plans for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Gunfight tournament mode, but did not comment extensively on how it will work and what types of rewards will be available for winning these.

Developers at the studio were extremely excited that the tournament system was up and running when we were there as it was a long development process to get it sorted, some said.

More information on the Modern Warfare MP is coming August 1.
