With Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War, and Warzone taking up sizable chunks of players’ hard drives, Call of Duty fans are keen to know how big the download file size of Vanguard will be.
As games get more advanced and demanding, they’re starting to take up more and more of players’ hard drives. Modern Warfare, with all its components, takes up 175GB of space, which has caused many to have to delete games to make room for it.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is releasing on November 5, and players are concerned about how much space the game will take up.
Here’s everything we know about the Call of Duty: Vanguard download file size.
Call of Duty: Vanguard download file size
While Call of Duty: Vanguard’s file sizes haven’t been officially announced for each platform, we can look at the Microsoft Store to get an early indication of how large the game will be.
Here are the approximate file sizes for Vanguard, according to the Microsoft Store:
- Xbox One: 75GB
- Xbox Series X|S: 95GB
The PlayStation 4 and PS5 editions will likely be similar sizes to their Xbox counterparts, with the PC edition’s size most likely matching the next-gen consoles.
This is significantly smaller than Black Ops Cold War’s file size at launch, where the PS4 edition clocked in at 95GB and the PS5 edition was 133GB.
However, we’ll need to wait until Sledgehammer Games gives us official details regarding the Vanguard download file size ahead of its November 5 launch.
How to reduce Call of Duty file size
Luckily, Call of Duty devs have incorporated ways to reduce Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War’s file sizes, allowing you to select the different content packs you want to have installed.
Vanguard is expected to follow suit, allowing you to either install and uninstall:
By uninstalling these content packs, you can significantly reduce the Vanguard download file size, depending on your gaming needs.
Warzone is currently tied to Modern Warfare, but it’s expected to switch over to Vanguard alongside the deep integration and new Warzone map. Currently, you must have Warzone installed to play Modern Warfare. At the time of writing, it’s uncertain whether Warzone will be required.

Best Call of Duty: Vanguard keybinds and settings for mouse & keyboard
Here are the best keybinds for playing Call of Duty: Vanguard on a mouse and keyboard, and also how to play KBM on consoles.
Many Call of Duty players prefer the precision that keyboard and mouse offers, so here are the best keybinds for Vanguard, and how to use them on Xbox and PlayStation.
With crossplay now featuring in every premium Call of Duty game, the debate between keyboard and mouse (KBM) and controller rages on. Some players believe that the precision a mouse offers gives KBM players a huge advantage, while others feel “broken” controller aim assist needs to be turned down.
Still, keyboard and mouse is a great way to play Call of Duty: Vanguard, offering the precision of aiming with your whole arm and a full keyboard of buttons at your disposal. Plus, you can use KBM on your Xbox and PlayStation too.
Here are the best keybinds for Call of Duty: Vanguard, and how to play on Xbox and PlayStation with a keyboard and mouse.

How to find the best mouse sensitivity
The first thing you need to do is make sure that Aiming Input Device is set as ‘Mouse.‘ You can’t change this setting in-game, so if it has defaulted to ‘Controller’ then you won’t be able to move and must back out to change it.
- Read more: Best BAR loadout for CoD: Vanguard Beta
But for sensitivity, it really is up to you and your preferred DPI (basically your mouse’s sensitivity). When the full game launches, you’ll be able to create a Private Match and find the perfect settings for you.
A good rule of thumb, however, is that dragging your mouse from one end of the pad to the other will result in a full 360-degree turn. This isn’t perfect for everyone but is a solid starting point in finding the best sensitivity.
Once you have your sensitivity locked in, there are a few more settings that you should tweak to play at your best.
Advanced Mouse Settings
- ADS Mouse Sensitivity Mode: Legacy (Alternate)
- Mouse Wheel Input Delay: 80
- Mouse Acceleration: 0
- Mouse Filtering: 0
- Mouse Smoothing: Off
For the mode, experienced players may find the most comfort in Legacy (Alternate), as this is the same legacy setting found in Warzone. Or, you can try out the Relative setting that comes as default.
And you want Acceleration, Filtering, and Smoothing all turned completely off. These all sacrifice precision, so simply aren’t worth it.

How to play Vanguard with a keyboard and mouse on PlayStation & Xbox
Even if you’re on consoles, you can still take advantage of the precision that a mouse and keyboard offer. Luckily, it’s extremely easy to set up as the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 all offer KBM support.
Once they’re plugged in, load up Vanguard and use the settings above to have the best keybinds possible.
To connect a mouse and keyboard to your PlayStation, all you have to do is plug them into the USB ports on the back of the console. Wait a few seconds and your PS4 or PS5 should pick up the new input. Then, you can navigate to Devices and fine-tune the controls.
To explain this process step-by-step:
- Turn on your PlayStation 4 or 5
- Plug in your peripherals to the USB ports on the back of the console
- Wait for the PlayStation to recognize the keyboard and mouse
- Navigate to ‘Devices’
- From here, fine-tune the KBM controls until you’re comfortable
Connecting a keyboard and mouse to an Xbox console is much the same as connecting to a PlayStation. Simply plug the peripherals into the USB ports on your Xbox and the console will quickly recognize the new inputs.
Bear in mind though, you’ll need to use your controller to navigate the Xbox user interface and settings menus.
Another step-by-step guide:
- Turn on your Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S
- Plug in your peripherals to the USB ports on the console
- Wait for the Xbox to recognize the keyboard and mouse
- Select ‘Profiles & system’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Devices & connections’
- From here, you can set up your mouse and keyboard
And that’s everything you need to know about playing Call of Duty: Vanguard on a mouse and keyboard, even if you play on consoles.

Best BAR loadout for CoD: Vanguard Beta
With manageable recoil, underrated firepower, and tremendous accuracy, here’s how to get even more out of the BAR in CoD: Vanguard.
The BAR is another classic World War II gun that has featured in multiple Call of Duty. It returns in stunning fashion in the Vanguard Beta, and our best loadout will apply the ideal Perks and attachments to increase its viability.
The Browning Automatic Rifle, or BAR for short, is an iconic weapon in FPS games as the gun is an interesting hybrid of Assault Rifle and LMG. It only holds 20 rounds, but its power and precision can allow it to take aim at several people at once.
Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Beta has several weapons all competing to be the main meta weapon, and the qualities of the BAR ensure that it’s in the conversation.

Best Vanguard BAR Gunsmith loadout attachments
- Muzzle: A2 Flash Hider
- Barrel: Chariot 18″ Rapid
- Optic: Zeiss G16 2.5x
- Stock: Chariot WR
- Underbarrel: M1941 Handstop
- Magazine: .50 BMG 30 Round Mag
- Ammo Type: Lengthened
- Rear Grip: Stippled Grip
- Proficiency: Hardscope
- Kit: Fully Loaded
The A2 Flash Hider is great for reducing vertical and horizontal recoil and won’t take too long to unlock. There are several different ways you can go with the barrel, but we’ve opted for the Chariot 18″ Rapid to increase its fire rate by 25%.
A solid optic is the Zeiss G16 2.5x as the BAR has awesome range, and this will help you make the most of its capabilities. Whereas the Chariot WR recovers a lot of the lost recoil from equipping the Chariot 18″ Rapid.
Attaching the M1941 Handstop works wonders for the BAR’s recoil, the .50 BMG 30 Round Mag lets you hold 10 more bullets and massively increases firepower, and Lengthened ammo will give a huge buff to bullet velocity and effectively increase the weapon’s speed.
The favorite Stippled Grip returns to boost the gun’s vertical and horizontal recoil, Fully Loaded is good in case your ammo supplies run low, and Hardscope is great for concentrated fire, especially with 30 rounds in a mag.
Best Perks to run with Vanguard BAR
- Perk 1: Ghost
- Perk 2: Radar
- Perk 3: Overkill
Ghost will be selected by many in Call of Duty: Vanguard as it can effectively shield you from Spy Planes, Field Mics, and Enemy Intel, and is too valuable to pass up.
How to unlock the BAR in Vanguard
The BAR is a weapon that all players so try out to see if they can get the most out of it in Call of Duty: Vanguard.
With several hours or so of the Beta under your belt, you should be able to reach Level 18 that is required to use it.

CoD: Vanguard Killstreaks list: V2 Rocket, Attack Dogs & more
Call of Duty: Vanguard has taken Multiplayer back to Killstreaks, bringing back some fan-favorites, as well as introducing some new ones.
Call of Duty: Vanguard has some great Killstreaks to obtain for those good enough to be rewarded for their effort. Let’s take a look at all of the Killstreaks that players will be earning.
The Call of Duty: Vanguard Beta was officially extended to September 22, allowing those on all consoles to get more time with the Beta and ultimately express their opinion and give feedback to the developers.
With that being said, many players were happy with the return of killstreaks, giving players that classic Call of Duty Multiplayer feel to the game.
Let’s take a look at all of the killstreaks currently available in Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Although some players weren’t too happy with certain Field Upgrades, overall, the feedback for the Vanguard killstreaks has been primarily positive.
A portion of CoD players seem to feel that Vanguard killstreaks mean players will play less of the objective. However, many others love that Killstreaks reward those with enough skill to take enemies down without dying, rather than getting killstreaks from simply capturing a flag.
In theory, Vanguard killstreaks will be less prevalent than scorestreaks, as scorestreaks were more common due to the ease of playing the objective rather than going on a meaningful killstreak.
With that being said, let’s take a look at all the Vanguard killstreaks, as well as what it will take to get them.
List of Call of Duty: Vanguard killstreaks
- Intel – 3 Kills
- A personal radar for the player, allowing them to see enemies closeby.
- Care Package – 4 Kills
- A classic, randomly drops a Killstreak into the map.
- Spy Plane – 4 Kills
- Otherwise known as a UAV, allow you and your team to see enemy red dots on the mini-map.
- Counter Spy Plane – 4 Kills
- This will prevent the enemy team from using their mini-map
- Glide Bomb – 5 Kills
- A remote controlled bomb that players can drop on unsuspecting enemies.
- Deathmachine – 5 Kills
- A huge minigun that does serious damage.
- Mortar Barrage – 5 Kills
- Set bombs to drop on a marked location.
- Warmachine – 7 Kills
- An explosive grenade launcher.
- Flamenaut – 9 Kills
- Similar to a Juggernaut, but this time with a Flamethrower.
- Attack Dogs – 10 Kills
- Release dogs into the map to terrorize and rip the enemy to shreds for a period of time.
- V2 Rocket – 25 Kills
- Not available for selection, but awarded to anyone who can achieve a 25 killstreak.
Players can select three Vanguard killstreaks before a match and will need to level up to unlock them all.
Often players will select killstreaks that they will not obtain every game, so depending on your playstyle, make sure you are choosing Vanguard killstreaks you will be able to earn consistently unless you’re going for a high killstreak, of course.
