Call of Duty: Vanguard Beta players aren’t too happy with a particular Field Upgrade, feeling it is too strong to be in Multiplayer.

PlayStation players were lucky enough to experience Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Multiplayer Beta over the weekend, getting to grips with how the new Call of Duty will work.

As well as discovering some great weapons like the MP-40 and strong perks like Radar, players have also been giving the developers great feedback concerning the game’s visibility and general balancing.

Unfortunately, some players are not too happy with the Field Upgrades available in the Beta, not only feeling as if the Goliath should be a killstreak but also being unsure about the place of the Armor Field Upgrade in Multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Vanguard field upgrades

Call of Duty: Vanguard has introduced some cool new dynamics into the Call of Duty Multiplayer experience that players have been getting to grips with through the Beta. As well as a new mounting system, destructible maps, and atmospheric weather in maps like Gavutu, players have also been trying out some of the new Field Upgrades.

Field Upgrades are part of a player’s loadout that recharges every so often. They can provide unique gameplay opportunities depending on which one the player chooses to use.

For example, Dead Silence works similarly to how it does in Warzone, providing players with a short period of silenced footsteps. Or, players could opt to use the Supply Box, which allows players to restock ammo and equipment for the player and their teammates.

Some of the Field Upgrades have been causing some controversy. Some players don’t believe Field Upgrades should be stronger than Killstreaks, especially if they provide huge advantages multiple times during a match.

Vanguard Armor Field Upgrade

Reddit user vol4lyfe123 posted their opinion on the Armor field upgrade, stating that: “Armor has no place in MP.”

The Armor Field Upgrade allows players to put on some extra protection and take more damage in their next encounter, similar to how Armor works in Warzone. Unfortunately, it seems this Field Upgrade may be too strong, and the community isn’t pleased about it.

Ultimately, the players feel Armor “creates incredibly inconsistent gunfights,” explaining that even if players get the first shot on someone with armor, they can still win the gunfight regardless of their reaction time.

Players feel as if gunfights in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Multiplayer should be based on “skill, gunplay, and positioning, not whether they have extra health or not.” The player feels this Field Upgrade should not be in the game, especially when there are very powerful fast-killing weapons like the Bar and STG44.

Of course, this is only the Beta for Vanguard. The developers have been pretty on top of taking in feedback and providing changes like the recent September 11 patch, so we’ll have to see what changes are made once the full game releases on November 5.

If players continue to share this opinion, perhaps we will see a change in the Field Upgrades available. For more on Call of Duty: Vanguard, check out our article on players calling for major changes to visibility while firing.
