Warzone players call for devs to not remove Rebirth Island with Vanguard integration

With Call of Duty: Vanguard on the way, players are worried about what will happen to the popular Rebirth Island mode in Warzone.

Warzone Logo on Rebirth Island

Warzone players have been begging the developers at Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games to keep the Rebirth Island mode after Vanguard’s integration.

With Warzone now in Season 6, players have had a lot of time with the Rebirth Island mode, as it was released back in the first season of Black Ops Cold War‘s integration with the battle royale.

Players are fond of it, as some are even calling for the devs to keep it in the game even after Vanguard‘s release.

With Vanguard not too far out now, releasing November 5, players are anticipating the game’s integration into Warzone, which could happen just a couple of weeks after launch.

Of course, players are extremely excited about the new Pacific map, but at the same tie, some are worried that the Rebirth Island Alcatraz map and mode will be lost.

Reddit user BaconHamAndCheese12 put up a post recently expressing their worries about Rebirth Island continuing even after Vanguard’s release.

The player is passionate about the mode remaining in the game, as the caption reads: “When we get the new Pacific map and Vanguard is integrated, are we going to lose Rebirth Island?”

The post goes on to question whether the map will remain, or even if the Resurgence mode will get a new “smaller map” introduced along with Vanguard.

The user then states “I really don’t hope we lose Rebirth Island and Resurgence,” showing their love for both the map and mode. As the post asks whether or not there has been any information on this topic, sadly there has not, and it is unclear what will happen to the mode after Vanguard is integrated.

Many users in the comments also feel the same way, with one even saying: “I was genuinely concerned about this too and it’s a topic nobody seems to be talking about.”

We know many Warzone players absolutely love Rebirth Island and Resurgence, so we too hope that the mode and map returns, and if not the same, hopefully, a new variation of it.

Warzone could potentially lose a lot of its player base who love the mode, as some players exclusively play Rebirth Island due to its fun, intense gameplay.

We’ll have to see what happens when the devs comment on the topic, but for now, check out the current Warzone Season 6 meta.

How to reduce Call of Duty file size

Call of Duty: Vanguard download file size

Luckily, Call of Duty devs have incorporated ways to reduce Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War’s file sizes, allowing you to select the different content packs you want to have installed.

Vanguard is expected to follow suit, allowing you to either install and uninstall:

  • Campaign
  • Multiplayer
  • Zombies

By uninstalling these content packs, you can significantly reduce the Vanguard download file size, depending on your gaming needs.

Warzone is currently tied to Modern Warfare, but it’s expected to switch over to Vanguard alongside the deep integration and new Warzone map. Currently, you must have Warzone installed to play Modern Warfare. At the time of writing, it’s uncertain whether Warzone will be required.

Vanguard devs explain why game size will be much smaller than Warzone & Cold War

Thanks to new tech, Call of Duty: Vanguard’s file size is set to be much smaller than Warzone and Cold War at launch.

Cod Vanguard player using the BAR

Call of Duty players have grown increasingly frustrated with Warzone and Cold War’s massive file size, but Activision has explained why the problem will be fixed in Vanguard.

As Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Black Ops Cold War continue to update, the games’ file sizes have kept growing. Black Ops Cold War is now sitting at around 200 GB, with Warzone adding at least another 50 GB. If you have a smaller hard drive, Call of Duty doesn’t leave much room for anything else.

Activision already allows you to uninstall certain aspects of the games such as Campaign and Zombies, but they have plans to significantly reduce Vanguard’s file size at launch.

“Good news for hard drives everywhere,” tweeted Call of Duty on October 26. “Vanguard’s install size at launch will be significantly below previous Call of Duty releases.”

They didn’t reveal Vanguard’s exact file size, but players can expect to “save up to 30%-50%+ on next-gen console and PC hard drive disk space.” Although last-gen consoles weren’t mentioned, next-gen editions take up significantly more room, so this should bring the sizes more in-line.

This will be done through “new on-demand texture streaming tech,” which is already available in Modern Warfare and Warzone for PC. Rather than taking up space on your hard drive, textures are downloaded on the go. Warzone players previously saved around 25 GB when it was introduced, but their new tech appears to be more effective at reducing file size.

Of course, this could cause issues for players with a poor internet connection, so it remains to be seen if it’ll be optional.

This also lines up with the Microsoft Store listing that Vanguard will be 75 GB on Xbox One, and 95 GB on Xbox Series X|S. These early sizes are much smaller than Cold War’s 133 GB launch size.

Warzone and Vanguard will integrate later this year, bringing the new RICOCHET anti-cheat and new Pacific map. Warzone is currently tied to Modern Warfare, but it’s expected to shift over to Vanguard with Season 1. This could bring across the new tech, but we’ll need to wait for official confirmation.

We’re less than a fortnight away from Vanguard’s November 5 release, so we expect to find out more details before launch.
