Bizarre Vanguard glitch turns your own dog against you
A bizarre Call of Duty: Vanguard glitch has caused a player to be mauled to death by their own Guard Dog Killstreak.
Attack Dogs are a classic Call of Duty Killstreak, first appearing in 2008’s World at War and returning in Vanguard. This Killstreak unleashes a pack of vicious dogs on the map that will hunt down and eliminate all enemy players.
Vanguard has also brought back the Guard Dog Killstreak, where one armored dog will keep you protected until it’s eliminated. However, one unlucky player appears to have had their own Guard Dog turn against them in a bizarre glitch.
Players have already complained about the Dogs Killstreaks being too powerful, with them teleporting around the map and taking a full magazine to take down. But another glitch is perhaps even more troublesome, with dogs turning on their owners.
Reddit user stonks_xd racked up the required six Killstreak to unlock the Guard Dog with the MG42, but it didn’t go according to plan.
Vanguard Guard Dog glitch
They called in their Guard Dog and as usual, found it waiting for them in the next room over. However, just as they get into a gunfight, their own Guard Dog attacks them.
You’d assume that this was actually an enemy Guard Dog, but that doesn’t appear to be the case here. The kill feed clearly shows that the dog isn’t controlled by an enemy. It displays the same feed as though they eliminated themself.
However, the Calling Card for an enemy player pops up. It appears that as they were getting damaged and their own Guard Dog dealt the killing blow.
We’re unsure what really happened here, or if it’s a common occurrence, but Sledgehammer Games haven’t listed it on their Trello board of known issues yet. The game will see a huge update for Season 1, so perhaps this bizarre issue will be included in the patch notes.
