CoD players call for return of classic prestige system in Vanguard
Call of Duty: Vanguard will take the series back to WWII, and there’s plenty of exciting new content confirmed, but players are asking for the return of the classic prestige system.
There is a ton of excitement for Call of Duty: Vanguard after we got a closer look at it through the official reveal, gameplay premiere, and the Champion Hill Alpha. Fans were quick to give feedback to the developers.
They recently asked for changes to the Vanguard mini-map and healing system, and now a few players have made it clear that they want to see the return of the classic prestige system in the upcoming Call of Duty title.
Reddit user smlfan123 made a post in the Vanguard subreddit, reminiscing about the prestige system in older Call of Duty titles. The player expressed his disappointment over the progression system in the last two games.
Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War introduced a new Prestige system to the franchise that saw players keep all of their weapons and attachments and only be reset to a base level to which they could start leveling up again.
Older CoD titles would let you reset completely and work your way up again to unlock weapons and attachments.
“Unfortunately, I don’t think Vanguard will bring this back since I think the removal of prestige is tied to Warzone integration, but I think it’d be a great treat for the fans if they could enroll in a prestige mode, which was already totally optional in the first place,” wrote the user.
Many commenters acknowledged that the previous prestige system was fun, and they would be overjoyed if the developers decided to bring it back in Vanguard or some other title.
One player had a creative idea of how the devs could approach implementing this system. “Create two separate ranks: one shows your overall ranking, and the other shows your current season rank. Best of both worlds.”
It remains to be seen if we’ll see the return of this system to the Call of Duty franchise, but we will be sure to update you if there are any developments.
