CoD Vanguard brings back Modern Warfare 2’s infamous elevator glitch

A bizarre glitch that allows players to rise into the air, known as the elevator glitch, has appeared in CoD: Vanguard and MW2 players will remember it very well.

Call of Duty: Vanguard has so far managed to pretty much avoid run-ins with any major glitches and game-breaking bugs – except maybe the armor plate hiccup. However, players have discovered that an old flame from Modern Warfare 2 has returned to cause chaos once more.

Way back in 2009, Modern Warfare 2 players stumbled across a weird elevator glitch that simulated the act of ascending upwards in an elevator. Its presence has now been uncovered in Vanguard, and players are once again taking advantage of it, particularly to pull off some incredible trickshots.

An elevator glitch is where the player becomes trapped between two walls, pretty much unable to move. Through a series of movements such as wriggling around, crouching, and standing, the player will eventually find a spot that causes the game to slowly move the player upwards.

Unless the player deviated from this path, the ascent would continue, and also gave the player a clear, aerial view of the map.

This allowed players to pull off some insane trickshots with Sniper Rifles in Modern Warfare 2, and now it’s happening again 12 years later in Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Twitter user @notkanashi posted a clip of themself using the elevator glitch to get in the air in Sub Pens before dropping a nasty no-scope trickshot as the last kill in a round of Free-For-All.

But that’s not all, @LeeWorldSZN also shared their impressive trickshot kill on the gorgeous Oasis map.

After rising considerably higher into the map, they eventually leaped, served up a flurry of weapon switches and 360s, before landing a round-winning no-scope in Search & Destroy.

Whilst these clips are obviously mega impressive and take a lot of skill to perform, Sledgehammer Games likely haven’t made this intentional. As such, we expect this to be patched sooner rather than later.
