CoD: Vanguard Multiplayer maps will feature major weather effects
Call of Duty: Vanguard will feature major weather effects on its Multiplayer maps in an exciting new element to the franchise.
The Call of Duty: Vanguard developers officially revealed new details surrounding the fan-favorite Multiplayer mode in a brand new video.
As well as showing off the first look at the new Warzone map, revealing the PC requirements for the Beta, and confirming FOV for consoles, the reveal also gave players an idea of how the weather will affect the maps in Multiplayer.
As we know, Vanguard’s Multiplayer will feature some different mechanics from the previous Call of Duty games.
As well as a new Combat Pacing system, Vanguard will also feature more destruction within the maps themselves, with players being able to break various structures within the maps to create new gameplay opportunities.
While discussing the Multiplayer maps, the Sledgehammer Games developers also announced how prominent weather would be in certain maps, perhaps also influencing the destruction.
Call of Duty: Vanguard map weather effects
During the Multiplayer reveal on Call of Duty’s YouTube, the developers touched on the maps known as “The Battle of Berlin” and “Gavutu,” prominent combat locations in the second world war.
Although only a short clip was shown of the weather in one of the maps, it seems realism was a big goal of the developers, creating realistic storms and weather that interacts with the map.
The developers have been using “new software techniques to generate simulations for really windy situations where the palm trees are colliding with each other, and it really makes the map have this energy to it.”
It seems specific maps will have this atmospheric weather within them to increase their realism and the player’s general experience of immersion. However, it isn’t clear whether it will interact with the map and change its integrity.
It’s safe to say that the weather effects will mostly be atmospheric but very extreme to the point that it will add depth to the experience and potentially interact with the player’s audio and visual senses.
