Vanguard devs respond after accidentally making Spy Planes impossible to shoot down again
Sledgehammer Games have addressed the community after the Vanguard Season 2 Reloaded update made it virtually impossible to shoot Spy Planes out of the sky once again.
Unlocking camos is one of the driving forces for many Vanguard players. They spend hours upon hours slowly grinding their way to Atomic by completing various in-game challenges.
This is even true for Launchers like the Panzerfaust or M1 Bazooka, but these have been notoriously difficult since launch because of challenges that require players to shoot down Killstreaks.
After originally fixing an issue that made Spy Planes and Counter Spy Planes incredibly tough to hit in the March 10 patch, the problem has popped back up after the Season 2 Reloaded update. Thankfully, the devs have responded.
Prior to the March update, shooting down a Spy Plane with a Launcher was nearly impossible because of the sheer speed they traveled through the sky. This, paired with varying stats of each Launcher in the game made it difficult to judge how far ahead to fire a rocket for a direct impact.
After months of complaints, the devs finally made the challenge easier by slowing them down to give players a fighting chance.
With the release of Vanguard Season 2 Reloaded, both flying Killstreaks had reverted back to their original speeds. Shortly after, Sledgehammer confirmed that a fix would be on the way shortly.
“The increased speed of the Spy Plane and Counter-Spy Plane is unintentional,” said the devs on Twitter. “We have a fix for this issue scheduled.”
Players will be relieved to hear that the change wasn’t a conscious decision and that taking out Killstreaks won’t be a nightmare for too long.
The devs didn’t give an exact time frame as to when they will push the fix live, but it is “scheduled” according to the team’s Trello board.
Hopefully, the patch will roll out very soon so that the camo grind can resume ASAP.
