Vanguard players are demanding a fix for the increased connection issues and packet loss since the start of Season 2 that is making the game “unplayable” at the moment.

Occasional connection issues have turned into frequent connection issues and packet loss since the start of Vanguard Season 2. Players have detailed a noticeable difference in connection strength and are struggling to play the game as intended.

This issue seems to be plaguing multiplayer and Ranked Play which is causing players to claim that Vanguard is currently “unplayable”.

The Vanguard subreddit is full of posts pertaining to connection issues and packet burst/loss. Each individual post is garnering a ton of attention through upvotes and comments and it’s clear to see the significant number of players this issue is affecting.

Most of the recounted experiences are the same as players noticed a considerable increase in connectivity issues following the major Season 2 update. Vanguard players have taken to Reddit in search of a potential solution but it seems this problem is out of their control.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any correlation between platform or internet strength and connection issues. One commenter explains how two setups in the same household produced different results:

“I play Xbox Wired with 1 gbps connection. My son plays Xbox WiFi upstairs. My game is easily 1 Packet Burst per minute. With 1-2 second lag each time. My son occasionally gets it, few times a game at max.

There is no rhyme or reason for it. Turning off texture streaming doesn’t help. There is nothing that helps. We need SHG to fix the b******t”.

The comments seem to agree with the above sentiment as PC, Xbox, and PlayStation players are all experiencing the same problem.

The post above also explains how internet connection does not come into play when it comes to preventing packet loss which for them has “made the game unplayable”.

There’s no denying that in a fast-paced FPS like Vanguard, consistent lag caused by connection issues would make most players want to shout at their monitor.

Mitigating packet burst is currently on Sledgehammer’s Trello board of known issues so we’ll be sure to let you know when a permanent fix is delivered.
