Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Open Beta will feature new Multiplayer mode “Patrol”
Sledgehammer Games will introduce a new Multiplayer game mode in the Call of Duty: Vanguard Open Beta that takes inspiration from a fan favorite.
Call of Duty fans are excited for Vanguard’s release on November 5, especially as PlayStation owners got a taste of gameplay in the recent Alpha. Although the gameplay did spark players to ask for some changes, players seemed satisfied overall.
With that being said, the Open Beta will be available for other platforms also to experience the game, including a brand new game mode for Multiplayer called “Patrol.”
Off the back of feedback from the Alpha, Sledgehammer Games confirmed some changes coming in the Call of Duty: Vanguard Open Beta. As well as various changes to visibility, spawns, and audio, the Open Beta will also feature some new content.
Although the Alpha introduced players to a new mode, Champion Hill, the developers aren’t done there, as the Open Beta will also introduce another mode not seen before by players.
In Sledgehammer’s latest blog, they confirmed that the Open Beta will work differently from the Alpha and will actually focus more on the classic Multiplayer modes players are more familiar with.
As well as Champion Hill, players will also be able to dive into Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Search and Destroy. Although it won’t be available on the launch of the Beta, the developers will also introduce a new game mode called “Patrol.”
What is Patrol?
Patrol will work similarly to fan-favorite mode Hardpoint, where players have to capture a position and remain within the area to earn points for the team.
The difference is that in Patrol, the Hardpoint position will move around the map, creating new gameplay opportunities and an exciting twist to an already loved game mode.

Here’s the official description from Sledgehammer:
“Patrol. Based on Hardpoint, this objective-based mode features a scoring zone in near-constant motion; if Operators want to rack up points for their team, they should keep up and move around the map within this Patrol point.”
We’ll have to wait until September 11 for this mode to drop in the Open Beta, so be sure to get some experience in the other modes before you drop into Patrol.
