Call of Duty: Warzone has over 75 million players
Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Warzone now has over 75 million players.
The game first launched on March 10 free to play on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The last time the company provided an update on the numbers was in early May, when the company said the game passed 60 million players.
Call of Duty: Warzone has reached over 75 million players to date. In the first full quarter since Warzone launched, hours played in the Modern Warfare universe increased eight-fold year-over-year, driven by both existing and new players.
Reaching 75 million players in its 4 months makes it one of the fastest growing free to play games of all time, up to par with Apex Legends.
Warzone is Activision’s first ever free to play experience on consoles on PC and has been extremely successful for the company.
Activision also says that Modern Warfare’s premium sales were the highest during Q2 2020 compared to any other outside of launch quarter in Call of Duty’s history, with many of those sales coming from Warzone upgrades.
Modern Warfare added more players outside of a launch quarter to the premium Call of Duty experience than ever before, with the majority coming through upgrades from Warzone. On PC, life-to-date consumption for Modern Warfare is more than double that of the prior title.
Call of Duty: Warzone’s newest season, Season 5 which is set to bring map changes and more, launches on August 5.
