Fan favorite SMG tops Warzone 2 pick rates after RPK & Fennec nerfs in Season 2
Following the buffs and nerfs introduced in the Warzone 2 Season 2 update, the RPK and Fennec have finally been displaced as the most popular guns in Al Mazrah, with a classic CoD SMG taking their place.
Warzone 2 Season 2 completely shook up the battle royale by bringing back Resurgence mode, allowing players to customize Perk Packages, and introducing a host of gameplay changes. It also brought plenty of weapon buffs and nerfs to refresh the meta.
Among these balancing changes were nerfs to the RPK and Fennec 45, the two guns that had dominated Al Mazrah ever since launch, leaving a large gap to fill atop the Warzone 2 meta. This has allowed a CoD classic to step up and become the most popular weapon in Warzone 2.
At the time of writing, the Lachmann Sub, better known as the MP5, has the highest pick rate of any gun in the game.
According to WZ Ranked, the Lachmann Sub currently has a selection rate of 19.6%, having seen a huge increase in popularity since the start of Season 2. This places it just above the TAQ-56 in second place and over 11% ahead of the RPK in third.
Meanwhile, the former number one SMG, the Fenenc 45, has slipped outside the top 10 guns in Warzone 2, with a pick rate of just 3.2%.
This all points towards the TAQ-56 and Lachamann Sub combination being the dominant setup in Al Mazrah in Season 2. The renamed SCAR deals with mid to long-range encounters, with the MP5 ready to mop up at short range.
If you’re wondering what the most common Lachmann Sub build is in Warzone 2, we’ve listed it below.
Most popular Lachmann Sub loadout in Warzone 2
- Barrel: Lachmann Pulsar
- Laser: VLK LZR 7mW
- Underbarrel: Lockgrip Precision-40
- Magazine: 40 Round Mag
- Rear Grip: Lachmann TCG-10
It’s worth keeping in mind that although these may be the most popular attachments according to the stats, they may not make up the strongest MP5 build. For an alternative, be sure to check out our best Lachmann Sub loadout.
Only time will tell if the classic CoD SMG will hold onto its place as the most popular weapon in Warzone 2. The devs will likely bring even more balancing changes later down the line in the Season 2 Reloaded update, so don’t be surprised to see the Lachmann Sub hit with a nerf if it continues to dominate.
In the meantime, fans will be happy to see a new face replace the RPK and Fennec 45 as the number one gun.
