How to fix Warzone & Modern Warfare error 5476
Warzone and Modern Warfare players are encountering the ‘dev error 5476’ which is preventing them from joining matches, and here’s how you can get around this problem.
It can be extremely frustrating to encounter error messages that interrupt your game, and Warzone Pacific players have been plagued by these throughout the game’s history, including error 47 and error code 48.
The ‘dev error 5476’ code is an issue that keeps players from enjoying Warzone and Modern Warfare. This has been an uptick in players experiencing this error after the arrival of the Season 4 Reloaded update.
Luckily, there are a few ways to fix this issue.
How to fix dev error 5476 in Warzone and Modern Warfare
The dev error 5476 code might pop up for many different reasons when playing Warzone or Modern Warfare. Players have reported this happening when they set their Calling Cards or Emblems to random.
Other times, this error code is the result of corrupted game files or a crossplay matchmaking issue. We’ll go over all the different workarounds that you can use to fix the dev error 5476 in both games.
Check for updates/Reset your console
Sometimes this error can be fixed by waiting for a new update. Your device should automatically notify you if there’s one available for download, but that’s only possible if your Internet connection is working.
Check your connection, and try resetting your Internet device if you suspect that it’s not working properly. You can also reset your gaming platform to see if it connects to your WiFi again.
Here’s how you can hard restart Xbox consoles:
- Hold down the power button until the Xbox completely shuts down
- Release the power button
- Disconnect the power cable
- Wait five minutes
- Plug the power cable back in
- Turn your Xbox back on
If you’re using a PlayStation, then this process is much easier:
- Hold down the power button for 5 seconds until the PlayStation completely shuts down
- Wait a few seconds
- Press and hold the power button until the PlayStation turns back on
Derandomize your calling card and emblem
One solution that has been successful in the past is to change your Calling card and Emblem so that they’re no longer set as “Randomized.”
Here’s what you need to do:
- Log into the game
- Head to the Barracks tab
- Check if your emblem is set to “Randomized,” then change it to “All Together Now” or any other category
- If your calling card is also set to “Randomized” then change that too
Once that’s done, head back to the lobby, and you’ll be able to join the game without seeing the error message.
Verify the Warzone and Modern Warfare game files
If the problem is being caused by missing or corrupted game data on your PC then you can attempt to verify the game files, and see if that fixes the problem.
Here’s how you can repair game files on the PC:
- Access the Blizzard battle.net app
- Click on the Warzone icon
- Select the gear icon and click “Scan and repair”
You’ll have to wait as the game files are scanned and verified. If you’re informed about any missing or corrupted game files then you’ll need to reinstall the game.
Reinstall Warzone and Modern Warfare
If the problem still persists then you can try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game from the online store. This solution is the least appealing one since you’ll need to wait a long while as the game downloads again.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Uninstall the game
- Enter the online store
- Search for Warzone and Modern Warfare
- Once you get to the game page, select ‘Download’
Once the game has finished downloading, hop back into the multiplayer mode and see if it works properly. Hopefully, one of these solutions will work in getting rid of the error message.
