JGOD explains how to turn Warzone’s FR 5.56 into the ultimate M16 counter
Warzone YouTuber JGOD has revealed one simple change that can make the usually ignored FR 5.56 compete with the M16 and AUG meta.
The FR 5.56 has long been considered one of Warzone’s weakest weapons. With its wild bullet spread and low time-to-kill, most players have written it off as not worth their time – according to WZRanked.com’s data, the FR 5.56 has a pick ratio of 0.1%. However, YouTuber JGOD has discovered a simple trick to make this weapon counter Season 2’s burst meta.
The AUG, and now the M16, have been running the long-range meta in Warzone Season 2. There aren’t any other weapons that can beat their TTK at distance, at least until JGOD discovered this FR 5.56 trick.
Turning the FR 5.56 from a dud to one of the game’s best, you simply have to change the fire mode to single-shot. Warzone defaults this to the ‘B’ key on keyboards, so make sure you still have that bound. And for controllers players, you hit ‘left’ on the D-Pad.
JGOD explains how changing the fire mode fixes the biggest problems with the FR 5.56. While firing semi-auto, it becomes much more accurate with an easier-to-control recoil pattern. You’ll be able to down an enemy in a maximum of 7 shots, and with how fast you can spam the shots, its TTK up there with the best.
JGOD also said that what really sets it apart from the meta weapons is its bullet velocity, “particularly at range.” The weapon will almost feel hitscan at times, meaning you hardly need to lead shots and you can shoot enemies out of the air with ease.
JGOD’s semi-auto FR 5.56 loadout
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: FR 24.4″ Sniper
- Optic: VLK 3.0x
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Ammunition: 50 Round Mags
As long as you keep the FR 24.4″ Sniper barrel, you can really customize the weapon however you want. In solos and duos, you can take off the 50 Round Mags, and if you need more recoil control, you can opt for a Compensator Muzzle attachment instead. Just remember to switch the fire mode to semi-automatic.
JGOD said it’s unlikely that the FR 5.56 will take over the M16 and AUG as the meta as they’re just too easy to use, but the FR 5.56 is an extremely viable alternative. He calls it a “high skill” gun, but if you manage to land your shots, you’ll find great success even in the burst meta.
With Season 3 right around the corner, perhaps either the FR 5.56 or one of the new leaked weapons will become the new meta.
