NICKMERCS explains why Warzone 2 Ranked Play arrived “too late”
ActivisionPopular Call of Duty content creator NICKMERCS has revealed his feelings towards the release of Warzone 2 Ranked Play, claiming it has arrived “too late.”
Warzone 2 has officially introduced Ranked Play as of Season 3 Reloaded, but while many are enjoying the competitive mode, the player count continues to plummet.
Players had to wait sometime before the competitive mode arrived in Warzone 2, as even Modern Warfare 2 received Ranked Play before the battle royale and Warzone 1 never received a ranked playlist.
While many had been calling for it to be introduced, some in the community now feel it’s too late, which is exactly what popular streamer NICKMERCS believes as he titled his May 30 YouTube video “Warzone Ranked Was Too Late.”
Despite enjoying the ranked system in Warzone 2, stating that it’s “really, really good,” unfortunately he feels it should have arrived during Warzone 1 when Verdansk was the map: “Bro, imagine we had a ranked mode in Warzone 1, I just keep thinking about it man.”
The streamer continues, saying that ranked “in Verdansk would have hit different…because you know we would have all been fiending on that f**kin’ quarantine bulls**t with our eyes crossed playing this s**t, we would have been going nuts, you wouldn’t have been able to get me off that game.”
Clearly, NICKMERCS feels the devs missed an opportunity with Warzone 1 by not giving the game a ranked mode, especially during the pandemic when everybody had to quarantine at home, and so more people had the time to play.
NICKMERCS began reminiscing about Warzone 1, saying “that game was so fun man,” going as far as to say that “we wouldn’t even know what an Apex pro is if Warzone 1 had ranked,” believing it would have been more popular than Respawn’s battle royale.
Of course, that’s not the case, but Ranked Play is here now in Warzone 2, and NICKMERCS has reached the Crimson Skill Division. We’ll have to see if he continues to grind into Season 4 of Warzone 2.
