Swagg’s underrated Warzone 2 Assault Rifle loadout “melts” after buff in Season 3

Warzone 2 Season 3 has given the meta yet another shake-up, and FaZe Clan member Kris “Swagg” Lamberson has revealed the underrated Assault Rifle that’s become a top-tier option after a major buff.

Warzone 2 Season 3 brought some major changes to the weapon meta in the battle royale. New weapons like the Intervention and Cronen Squall were thrown into the mix, while a number of existing guns were hit with buffs and nerfs.

The Assault Rifle category revised plenty of attention in the update, with the meta ISO Hemlock getting a range nerf, while the already popular TAQ-56 saw its headshot damage increase.

Warzone 2 expert FaZe Swagg has revealed the underrated Assault Rifle that he thinks has benefitted the most from the Season 3 update, and can now challenge the best weapons in the game.

In his April 14 video counting down the five meta weapons in Warzone 2, Swagg explained that the STB 556 “melts” after a significant buff in Season 3, thanks to an impressive TTK that puts it up there with the Hemlock and Kastov 762.

After being underused for much of Season 2, the STB 556 received buffs to its headshot, leg, torso, and mid-range damage in Season 3, but still has a pick rate of just 3% according to WZ Ranked. However, Swagg has urged players to give the AUG a try despite its lack of popularity.

“A lot of people didn’t think this was going to be viable because of the mag size, but 42 is almost perfect. It’s almost like the AM2 from Cold War,” Swagg explained. “It has no recoil, great damage range, and I think you guys will really enjoy this class setup.”

Swagg began his best STB 556 loadout with the Harbinger D20 and 24.4″ Bruen S-620, buffing the Assault Rifle’s damage range and bullet velocity to make it extremely effective in mid to long-range fights.

Next, he went for the Commando Foregrip, offering improved recoil stability to keep the STB on target during sustained fire. He also added the AIM OP-V4 for a more accurate optic.

Finally, Swagg equipped 42 Round Mags to ensure you can pick off multiple enemies before having to reload.

The Assault Rifle meta is one of the most competitive in Warzone 2, but after such a huge buff in Season 3, don’t be surprised to see the STB 556 emerge as a top contender.
