Warzone 2 Assimilation explained: How to add enemy players to your squad
Warzone 2 brings the brand-new Assimilation feature, shaking up the battle royale formula by allowing teams to add enemy players to their ranks. Here’s how Assimilation works in Warzone 2, and how to add enemies to your squad.
Warzone 2 builds on the gameplay of the original game, while also introducing a host of new features to keep things fresh. From Strongholds full of AI enemies to the overhauled circle mechanics, the sequel feels drastically different from its predecessor.
One of the most interesting additions to Warzone is Assimilation, giving players the option to join enemy teams or recruit new members to their own.
Here’s everything you need to know about Assimilation in Warzone 2, as well as how to add enemy players to your squad.
What is Assimilation in Warzone 2?
Assimilation is a new mechanic in Warzone 2 that gives players the option to fill empty spots in their squad with an enemy in the same lobby. This is perfect if someone on your team has to leave the match or a random player wanders off and dies on their own.
In standard Warzone 2 playlists, it’s only possible to recruit players until you reach the maximum squad size for that match. For example, if you’re on Quads and there are three players left in your squad, you can bring in one more.
However, the Assimilation feature really comes into its own on the ‘Unhinged‘ playlist. Here, squads can grow up to six players, meaning two trios could merge together to form a deadly squad and conquer Al Mazrah.
How to add an enemy to your squad in Warzone
If bringing an enemy into your team in Warzone 2 sounds interesting, it can be done easily by holding down the Ping button when close to another player. This brings up a menu wheel and you’ll see the ‘Invite Enemy Squad’ option on the bottom right.
Simply select it and an invite will be sent to the squad automatically. If they choose to accept it, they will immediately change allegiances and become part of your team. We’ve included a step-by-step guide below:
- Hold down the Ping button to bring up the in-game menu.
- Scroll to ‘Invite Enemy Squad’ on the right side of the wheel.
- Select it to send a notification to the enemy.
- Wait for them to accept the invite.
- Take over Al Mazrah with your new teammate.
If you’re a lone wolf whose team has abandoned you, there is also the option to ask to join an enemy squad if they have space. Simply repeat the process above, but select the ‘Join Enemy Squad‘ option from the Ping menu.
Assimilation is an incredibly unique feature that could add an extra layer to Warzone 2 once players learn how to make the most of it. So, if you’re a man down in you’re next match, don’t be afraid to look for backup.
