Warzone 2 devs give anti-cheat update ahead of Ranked Play launch
ActivisionWarzone 2 Ranked Play finally arrives with Season 3 Reloaded but following a surge in cheaters, especially in Modern Warfare 2’s ranked mode, players have been worried about the mode. The devs have provided an anti-cheat update ahead of Season 3 Reloaded.
Anyone that played Warzone back in the Verdansk days will remember how bad cheating was, so the devs implemented their very own RICOCHET anti-cheat to combat the problem. While it came with improvements in Modern Warfare 2, many have complained that Ranked Play has been full of cheaters and it’s made them extremely concerned about Warzone 2’s ranked mode.
With Warzone 2 Ranked Play’s beta arriving with Season 3 Reloaded, the devs have revealed the anti-cheat steps they’ve taken ahead of the competitive mode’s launch.
In a May 9 tweet, the Call of Duty team tweeted the changes they’ve made “in preparation for Warzone Ranked Play (Beta).” Here are all of the changes:
- Activated new server-side detection systems
- Developed new backend tools for investigation with studios
- Updated 3rd-Party Hardware Device detections
- Enforced password resets on accounts at-risk or suspected of being stolen
- Instilled a minimum level of 45 to play
Following this, RICOCHET should be better at detecting cheating software and third-party devices such as Cronus controllers. Plus, the hope is that by forcing players to reach at least level 45 before hopping into Ranked Play, RICOCHET can detect them before they start ruining the competitive mode.
However, not everyone has been convinced that the changes will provide the solution they’re hoping for.
“Level 45 lol, hackers reach this in 20 games of shipment,” replied one player. “If hackers can get to the top 250 cheating without getting caught.. they can get to level 45,” said one player in response.
Whether the difference will be noticeable remains to be seen but in the meantime, you can check out all of the restrictions and how the ranks work.
