Warzone 2 devs reveal major looting change coming in Season 2
Warzone 2 Season 2 has been delayed, but the devs confirmed that the update would bring major changes to the battle royale. Looting in Warzone 2 is set to undergo an overhaul, so here’s what the devs revealed.
Call of Duty fans were disappointed to hear about the delay of Warzone 2 Season 2. While the update was originally slated for a February 1 launch, the devs confirmed that it will instead arrive on February 15.
The delay will give the devs more time to work on changes informed by the community’s negative reaction to the state of Warzone 2. While the announcement of a small Resurgence map garnered most of the attention, some players were eager to learn more about the potential looting changes.
Warzone 2 Season 2 looting change
On January 20, the Warzone 2 devs went into greater detail about the changes set to arrive with the Season 2 update. They revealed what to expect when it comes to Warzone 2’s looting, and it seems players will have at least one major change to get to grips with.
Here’s one of the many looting changes that should arrive with the Warzone 2 Season 2 update.
Warzone 2 Season 2 to introduce classic floor loot mechanic
After the update, loot will pop onto the floor when a player is eliminated or when you open a loot crate. This visual change will allow you to see the dead player’s loot scattered across the floor after you secure a kill.
At launch, Warzone 2 changed the way players interact with loot by having them go through backpacks and managing inventory. However, the devs confirmed that the Season 2 update will reintroduce a mechanic that players experienced in the original battle royale.
Loot containers will disperse loot all over the floor as they did in the original Warzone experience. It seems like the devs are inching away from the menu-oriented looting system that would appear when opening a loot crate or a dead player’s backpack.
We’ll provide more information about upcoming looting changes in Warzone 2 when the deep dive blog is revealed during the week of January 23.
