The Jailer in Warzone 2’s Gulag is a fearsome foe that can wreak havoc on a tense 2v2 encounter, but taking them down can actually reward players with a free minigun.

Warzone 2 threw a big spanner in the works when by making Gulag matches 2v2 affairs, which came as a shock to many and drastically shook up the formula from the original Warzone.

After much deliberation, the devs have decided to revert Warzone 2’s format back to the classic 1v1 setting. One of this Gulag’s biggest differences was the presence of the Jailer – an AI entity who would sometimes enter the battlefield if players were taking too long.

Essentially a Juggernaut, the Jailer would sport a minigun and make the life of functioning players hell. However, if the remaining players opted to team up to take out the Jailer, then everyone could redeploy for free.

It seems that this rarely happened though, but one Warzone 2 player recently found out that if this does happen, then you have a chance to steal the fallen Jailer’s minigun.

Reddit user MRichards18 showed the Warzone 2 subreddit a video of their friend picking up a minigun almost at the beginning of their Gulag match. With the obvious advantage in hand, the player made the most of the hefty stack of ammo to easily decimate an enemy player before effortlessly killing a new Jailer.

They then redeployed into the game, and you could quite clearly see that they had a minigun as their secondary weapon alongside a Basilisk Pistol. It’s not 100% clear if this is supposed to be as intended by the devs, or if this is indeed a bizarre glitch.

A top comment on the post made an interesting point: “If they were keeping the 2v2, this would actually be a good incentive to beat the Jailer.”

As the user alluded to though, the Warzone 2 Season 2 update is set to nix both the 2v2 Gulag, along with the Jailer. The AI enemy is set to be replaced by the old-school control point flag as seen in Warzone 1.
