Warzone 2 means Rebirth Island & Fortune’s Keep will be removed according to leaker

Warzone’s Resurgence maps are true fan favorites, but well-known leaker TheGhostOfHope claims that both Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep will disappear when Warzone 2.0 is released.

Although it’s looked back on fondly, Verdansk had plenty of detractors towards the end of its lifespan. After that, Caldera launched to mixed reviews. Where did Warzone players go when the big maps weren’t popular? Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep.

These smaller Resurgence maps are a hive of fast-paced Call of Duty action, with players finding themselves in frequent gunfights, with lack of combat a complaint that many aimed at Caldera specifically.

For many, the only reason they play Warzone is to jump onto these maps and ignore the larger ones entirely. It seems that will soon come to an end though, with leaker TheGhostOfHope claiming that both will disappear when Warzone 2 is launched on November 16.

This matches up with a report from prominent leaker Tom Henderson, who suggested that the current iteration of Warzone would be renamed “Warzone Caldera” after November 16. With the Resurgence maps gone, Caldera would be the only one available.

TheGhostOfHope didn’t provide any reasoning for the decision, but Activision likely wants to move as many people as possible to Warzone 2.0, and not split the player base across two games.

Unsurprisingly, fans of the map weren’t impressed by the rumor, slamming the idea. One labeled it as “another awful decision by Activision,” while ‘givemedatrn’ on Twitter claimed: “This isn’t gonna make the Rebirth community play Warzone 2.0, they’ll likely just stop playing altogether.”

Of course, this hasn’t been confirmed by Infinity Ward or Activision just yet, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Still, it does appear that our days with Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep are numbered, so if you love these maps, it may be worth making the most of them before Warzone 2.0’s release on November 16.
