Warzone 2 players are begging Infinity Ward to buff weak Sniper Rifles
ActivisionWarzone 2’s Sniper Rifle gameplay has had people talking with many players frustrated and unhappy over the current damage output of Sniper Rifles.
In Warzone 2 Season 1, it’s very simple, a Sniper Rifle shot to the head will not guarantee an instant kill. Instead, it will simply break all of your opponent’s plates, meaning you will need to be accurate and land at least two shots to down an opponent.
This is in stark contrast to Warzone 1 in which a headshot with a Sniper Rifle or a Marksman Rifle would basically down or eliminate an opponent.
There’s a large feeling amongst the CoD community that the nerf has drastically reduced the effectiveness of Sniper Rifles in Warzone 2, and one Reddit post has posed an interesting question.
“Snipers. Should they one-shot on headshots, yes or no? Not talking about Marksmen or Battle Rifles, but actual snipers. Buff or keep them as they are?”
At the very least, the user thinks that an accurate shot with a Sniper Rifle should down someone, and other commenters on the post agreed.
“I snipe a dude, headshot, no down. He replates, I headshot him again, no down. How is that fun?” said one user, whereas someone else said: “This has taken all the fun out of sniping, now you might as well just use a Marksman or Battle Rifle. Sniper rifles are now obsolete.”
Warzone 1 became notorious for Sniping as players tended to favor the Kar98k Marksman Rifle to land quick and easy one-shot, headshots downs/kills.
Now, Warzone 2 has now options that can guarantee a one-hit kill, and this is reflected in the game’s top 10 most popular weapons with just the SP-R 208 Marksman Rifle making the cut.
Time will tell if the devs decide a change needs to be made, and there’s every chance that there could be a big Sniper meta shift in either Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded, or even the leaked Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 Season 2.
