Warzone 2 players beg for return of ‘wasted’ map from original
ActivisionWarzone 2 players have been desperate for the likes of Verdansk and Rebirth Island to make a comeback ever since the sequel launched, but there’s another short-lived map from the original that fans would like to see added to the rotation.
Warzone 2 features three diverse maps for players to do battle on, each with their own unique POIs and characteristics. Battle royale is played on Al Mazrah and Vondel, while Resurgence modes rotate between the latter and Ashika Island.
Despite the variety that the sequel offers, many fans have been desperate for maps from the first Warzone to make a comeback, from the original Verdansk to the Alcatraz-inspired Rebirth Island.
Now, players have called for Fortune’s Keep to return in Warzone 2, after the map’s short but well-received run in the first game.
Reddit user ‘AnyComplaint9204’ kicked off the conversation by posting a screenshot of Fortune’s Keep, along with the caption: “My condolences to the devs who put blood, sweat, and tears into this complex and detailed map that only lasted 4 months…”
The Resurgence map arrived in Warzone Season 4 back in 2022, but was removed alongside Rebirth Island just four months later when Warzone 2 launched and the original game rebranded to Warzone Caldera.
It seemed to make quite an impression despite its short lifespan, as many comments were keen for Fortune’s Keep to come back.
“Hope we will see it someday in Warzone 2 or Warzone Mobile,” said one reply, while another agreed: “Arguably the best map they’ve made since Warzone started.”
While Fortune’s Keep replacing the current Resurgence offerings in Warzone 2 is unlikely, there were plenty of calls for a rotation between all of them, as many were surprised that the map was abandoned so quickly.
“This map SHOULD be in rotation alongside Vondel and Ashika Island. It just makes no damn sense,” argued one player, before another added: “I just couldn’t imagine them spending time on such a great map and then waste it like this.”
New maps are expected to arrive in Warzone 2 when Modern Warfare 3 launches later this year, with Las Almas reportedly set to be the first new map. Only time will tell if old favorites like Fortune’s Keep will also be added to the mix.
