Warzone 2 players demand nerf to “broken” Akimbo Pistols in Season 2

Akimbo Pistols have been a thorn in the side of Warzone 2 players ever since the game launched, and the community has called for them to finally be nerfed in the Season 2 update.

Warzone 2 has dozens of different weapons for players to experiment with, but there is always a handful that are more powerful than the rest. In the case of Al Mazrah, the RPK and Fennec 45 have been the go-to combination since launch.

One of the more frustrating loadouts that have dominated Warzone 2 is Akimbo Pistols, capable of unloading multiple shots in quick succession to melt enemies at close-range, often faster than their SMGs and Shotguns.

Now, after an entire season of Akimbo Pistols like the Basilisk or X13 Auto being overpowered, players have called for a nerf in the Season 2 update.

CoD streamer IceManIsaac started the conversation by tweeting the developers, asking them to learn from broken Akimbo loadouts in the previous Warzone.

He asked the devs: “When are you going to nerf akimbo pistols? I thought we would have learned from akimbo snakeshots/diamattis/renettis/magnums over the last 3 years, but they’re still broken in 2023.”

Plenty of other players responded to the tweet, agreeing that Warzone 2 needs a balancing update to make Akimbo Pistols less deadly.

“It’s so dumb no one likes it, not even the guys using them,” said one player. “At this point they are just trolling us, same mistakes over and over again.”

Other fans replied criticizing the devs for the overall state of the Warzone 2 meta, claiming that too many overpowered weapons have been left untouched since November.

“The complete lack of weapon balancing since launch is awful,” said Dustin Boe. “I hope they never release a game before the Holiday season again.”

Warzone 2 Season 2 will almost definitely come with a host of buffs and nerfs to the game’s many weapons, but there is currently no word on which guns will be affected. Fans are already expecting to see an RPK and Fennec nerf, and they’ll be hoping that Akimbo Pistols receive the same treatment.
