Self Revives are an extremely common but extremely powerful tool in Warzone 2, and the devs are nerfing their effectiveness by bringing back a highly requested feature from the original game.

Warzone 2’s Season 1 Reloaded update has arrived, bringing major quality-of-life changes, weapon buffs and nerfs, and the return of Mini Royale. That’s not all though, as it’s also nerfed the controversial Self Revive Kit.

Self Revives have always been one of Warzone‘s most powerful tools, allowing players to quickly get themselves back in the fight as long as they’re in cover. They returned in Warzone 2 but are more powerful than ever.

Not only are Self Revives extremely common, but players can carry several in their backpack to revive themselves again and again — something that’s especially useful when in the gas. And when they do pop one, there’s no audio cue to let other players know.

Back in Warzone 1, a player getting revived or popping a Self Revive would give a loud audio cue, letting nearby players know that they are back on their feet. This was a vital counter to Self Revives but the feature was missing in Warzone 2.

Players could crawl away and revive themselves in complete silence, so you’d have no idea if they were still down or back on their feet.

Luckily, Warzone 2’s Season 1 Reloaded update has brought back that audio cue, meaning you’ll no longer be caught unaware by a player you just downed: “A sound will play to alert nearby Players when a Player has been revived.”

Players have been calling for other Self Revive nerfs, either limiting how many you can carry, making it so that you have to manually equip each Self Revive after it’s used, or lengthening the time it takes. Whether the devs will implement further changes remains to be seen, but at the very least, you’ll know if someone has been revived nearby.
