Infinity Ward has confirmed that they do plan to experiment with different team sizes in Call of Duty: Warzone as they continue to add more support for features and new content to the newly launched free to play game.

During our visit to Infinity Ward, the studio heads mentioned that they are launching with trios because that’s how they’ve tested the mode for a long time now and it’s worked effectively for this mode. Patrick Kelly, Infinity Ward Studio Head, reiterated that in an interview with USA TODAY.

The studio head also mentioned in this interview that they plan to experiment with different team size options and playlists as they continue with Warzone, saying that they have tested 4-player and 5-player teams for Warzone internally.

“So let’s say you show up alone and just want to play solo … or if you show up with a buddy, you just check the box that says, ‘Don’t fill my squad,’ and you will just be a duo,” Kelly said. “I can tell you we have four- and five-player squads we are already playing with. But we want to launch with something we know works really well and we have tested to the nines and then play around with these different team sizes.”

Call of Duty: Warzone launched on March 10 free to play for everyone with only trios enabled, but allowed players to set squad fill to jump in solo or duo into matches.
