The release of Call of Duty: Vanguard is right around the corner, bringing a brand new Pacific map with it when it integrates into Warzone later this year. According to a well-known leaker, though, the new map won’t be using Vanguard’s WW2 setting.

Warzone Season 6 is the swansong for Verdansk, the map that fans have been playing on from the very start.

Following the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, the new title will integrate into the CoD battle royale later this year, bringing in fresh features like RICOCHET anti-cheat and a long-awaited new map.

But according to a respected CoD leaker, fans might be surprised to hear that the new Pacific map isn’t going to adopt the same World War II setting as Vanguard itself.

With the Vanguard integration and the Pacific map coming hand-in-hand, many fans may have assumed that we’d be traveling even further back in time for the next Warzone season.

However, the leaker claims to have sources that have informed them otherwise.

“The Pacific Warzone map is not set in WWII,” the leaker said on Twitter. “I have a good source for this information, it’s not based on anything simple.”

Unfortunately, they did not go into specifics about who the source is and what information led them to draw this conclusion.

Much like Verdansk, given that the Pacific map will likely be home to Warzone matches across multiple CoD releases, avoiding the historic setting may help with integrating future games in the series.

Fans also responded saying they would understand why it makes sense to stay away from World War II in Warzone, as it would help explain why Modern Warfare and Cold War weapons are littered across the map.

The leaker urged fans to take the news lightly until Raven officially announce more details on the new map.

“I don’t ever want to say anything that’s incorrect, or too early to say where it could be changed,” they said. “As with any unofficial information, feel free to take it with a grain of salt until it’s confirmed.”

We won’t know for sure exactly which time period the Pacific map is set in until more trailers and information emerge.

With Call of Duty: Vanguard so close to launch, fans should have to wait too long to hear about the next chapter of Warzone.
