Warzone Season 5, titled Last Stand, will see several familiar faces take center stage as the battle royale focuses on the heroes and villains of past Call of Duty titles. Of course, there’s much more to enjoy with Caldera changes, a new Gulag, new weapons, and new items to discover.

Warzone Pacific Season 5 release date
Warzone Pacific Season 5 is set to begin on Wednesday, August 24 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM UK, immediately after Season 4 comes to a close.
The date was confirmed by Raven Software and given that there are no delays, the season is getting off to a start on August 24.
Warzone Pacific Season 5 Caldera changes
For starters, Caldera has undergone several changes with the Warzone Season 5 update. A volcanic eruption has spread around the map and you’ll be able to witness the lava running down the sides of the Peak POI.
In addition, a new Gulag has been introduced in Season 5: “Fight for redeployment in the new volcanic-themed Gulag. Best your opponent in this new face-off pit inspired by an old favorite and get another shot at securing victory.”
New weather and lighting changes
The Season 5 roadmap also revealed that Caldera will deliver some much-needed lighting changes. With the storm finally cleared, Caldera will trade its clouds of gray for warm sunshine.
Event the volcano’s smoke won’t be enough to fully block out the sunlight as it makes a widespread return. In addition, “Rebirth Island sees new lighting changes as well, featuring a warm and lush sunset casting a vibrant hue over the map.”
Warzone Season 5 new items
Four new items will be making their way to Warzone in Season 5 and they’ll all bring something new to the table for players to enjoy. Here’s the devs’ description of each of the new items and how to properly utilize them in Season 5:
Doomsday Station
Discover this seismic device found within Caldera’s primary Battle Royale game mode. Trigger the device and enemy helicopters arrive to surround the station, deploying enemy soldiers to attack your position. Remain close to the Doomsday Station and defend yourself for a chance at earning powerful items and a unique Watch cosmetic for your Operator.
Only one Doomsday Station will appear per match, with multiple possible spawn locations. Pay the required $10,000 to activate it and prepare for a thunderous fight.
Supply Box UAV
Activate the new Supply Box UAV Killstreak for assistance in tracking down more items. It will mark nearby unopened Supply Boxes on the player’s Tac Map for around 15 seconds. Find the Supply Box UAV in Supply Boxes or purchase one at a Buy Station.
Personal Supply Box
Track down this extremely rare crate with the assistance of the Supply Box UAV to acquire your favorite Loadout weapons in Warzone. Each squad member gets a huge XP boost as well.
Rage Serum
This Field Upgrade allows you to become violently unstable, resulting in a viciously effective boost to your close-quarters fighting. Test subjects were shown to have superior melee damage, increased lunge distance, and enhanced stun power while fighting with melee weapons or fists.
However, defensive forces have confirmed that while affected by Rage Serum, an Operator becomes louder, and seems to recoil with more confusion while stunned or flashed.
Warzone Pacific Season 5 new weapons
Seeing as Vanguard and Warzone Season 5 are the games’ final content drop, it’s no surprise to see that a whopping five weapons will be up for grabs. Two of those weapons will be available via the Season 5 Battle Pass at the start of Season 5.
- EX1 Energy Rifle (Launch)
- RA 225 SMG (Launch)
- Valois Revolver (Launch Window)
- BP50 Assault Rifle (Midseason)
- Lienna 57 Assault Rifle (Midseason)
It will be interesting to see how the EX1 Energy Rifle integrates into Warzone’s weapon pool considering how unique the weapon is with its energy rifle designation. Meanwhile, players will attempt to discover if yet another Vanguard SMG could rise to the top of the close-range meta following the RA 255‘s release.
Warzone Pacific Season 5 new modes and events
Operation: Last Call (Launch)
Operation: Last Call will be a new Warzone mode available at the launch of Season 5. Last Call is inspired by the classic Search and Destroy multiplayer mode, and players will be tasked with attacking or defending bomb sights around Caldera.
Lava Rock
Lava Rock is ready to up the chaos by adding an active volcano to Warzone gameplay. Players will have a Volcano Meter that displays the volcano’s current activity. As lava rocks crash to the surface you’re going to want to avoid the landing zones if you want to survive.
Heroes vs Villains
Heroes vs Villains will be Warzone Season 5’s major Community Event. Players will be able to choose which side of the battle they’d like to support. Regardless of if you side with the Heroes or Villains, you’ll collect tokens by eliminating players, which can then be used at the Buy Station to purchase Faction Bundles.
Purchasing a Faction Bundle will provide players with a discount on one other item across all Buy Stations.
There will also be some unique rewards up for grabs and one given to all players as the roadmap explains that “the winning team’s unique Weapon Blueprint will be given to everyone following the event.”
Classic CoD villains coming to Warzone Pacific Season 5
Task Force Tyrants is making its way to Vanguard and Warzone Season 5. Players will be able to “deploy as four of Call of Duty’s most infamous antagonists” with the appropriately named Task Force Tyrants.
The villains set to return in Warzone Season 5 are:
- Raul Menendez from Black Ops 2 (Launch)
- Khaled Al Asad from CoD 4 and Modern Warfare 2019 (In-season)
- Gabriel Rorke from Ghosts (In-season)
- Seraph from Black Ops 3 and 4 (In-season)
While Menendez will be available at Tier 0 of the Battle Pass the other Operators will have their own bundles that can be purchased.
“Additionally, players who have digitally pre-ordered either the Cross-Gen, Standard, or Vault Edition versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will receive the Khaled Al-Asad Operator Bundle for free and will have immediate access once it becomes available in the Store, for use in Vanguard and Warzone.”
Warzone Season 5 Umbrella Academy crossover
This image from the Warzone Season 5 roadmap blog confirms that an Umbrella Academy crossover will be coming to the battle royale. An Umbrella Academy crossover was previously leaked and if the rumors are true there will be a bunch of extra rewards tied into purchasing the bundles.
Fans of the Netflix series will have to wait to find out exactly what’s in store but the image above and the roadmap revealed skins for Hazel and Cha Cha.

New Caldera Mode | Season Launch
In this limited-time mode inspired by Search and Destroy, you can choose to defend Caldera by defusing bombs around the island, or sabotage it by detonating the explosives at designated bomb sites. Witness two different outcomes, depending on your performance and your intent to cause chaos.
Some of the things to expect from this mode:
- It’s a full-map mode
- Players start with their Loadout
- Resurgence respawn system is activated but Players cannot get wiped
- It’s raining giant lava rocks!
- Players should keep an eye on the Volcano Meter for a read on volcanic activity, also represented by an increasingly smokey atmosphere.
Fortune’s Keep Resurgence Mode Update
As mentioned in Season Four’s patch notes, we have been reviewing the sentiment and data for the pacing of Fortune’s Keep Resurgence, as the intent with the new map has always been for it to offer a similar time-to-action as Rebirth Island Resurgence. Thank you to all our Players who have engaged and shown love for the new map and the “Fortunes Keep Extreme” LTM. That said, we are happy to share that we have now made some adjustments based on your feedback:
- Solos:
- 50 Players, up from 45
- +4 teams
- Duos:
- 50 Players, up from 46
- +2 teams
- Trios:
- 51 Players, up from 45
- +2 teams
- Quads:
- 52 Players, up from 40
- +3 teams
With this increase in additional Players, we have also increased the availability of Supply Boxes as we have been happy with the pacing of looting relative to squad size.
Note: Private Matches will be updated later this season.
Caldera Map Updates
Volcanic Peak Reworked POI
Heightened volcanic activity has been recorded at Caldera, with a major geological event occurring with the launch of Season Five. Battle around a transformed Peak as lava runs down the mountainside in all modes and shoots out over the island during Operation: Last Call.
Task Force Tyrants HQ POI Expansion
No self respecting villain would operate without an evil lair. As such, Task Force Tyrants has claimed Peak and given it somewhat of a hazardous makeover… an interior creek with flowing lava, basalt columns and stepping stones, a giant, colorful, ornate crest for their secret organization, and a beautiful vista looking out over a wartorn Caldera.
Boiler RoomNew Gulag
Get back into the match with the new volcanic-themed Gulag, inspired by an old favorite.
Sun Rays Through Smoke New Weather and Lighting
The storm has cleared on Caldera, the sunlight peeking through the volcano’s billowing smoke.
Sunset New Weather & Lighting
Rebirth Island sees new lighting changes as well, featuring a warm and lush sunset casting a vibrant hue over the map.
Rebirth After Dark New Weather & Lighting
Rebirth Island will also receive a special limited-time mode, “Rebirth After Dark”, on Friday September 2nd through Sunday September 4th that allows Players to experience this fan favorite experience after the sun has set.
BUG FIXES
- Fixed collision issues with various elements across Caldera/Fortune’s Keep allowing Players to exploit/peek/shoot through them.
- Fixed an issue that prevented the Player from equipping Armor Plates after interacting with a Buy Station.
- Fixed an issue that caused the Player to be unable to buy back a teammate when the Hardline Perk was equipped.
- Fixed an issue that caused Prestige Levels to display incorrectly in the Barracks.
- Fixed an issue that caused some Emblems and Calling Cards to be unequipped automatically.
- Fixed an issue that caused the Out of Bounds warning to get stuck on-screen in a pre-match lobby.
- Fixed an issue preventing Players from using the Portable Redeploy Balloon following certain actions such as operating a vehicle – encountering the “Field Upgrade Not Ready” message.
- Fixed an issue causing the visual radial blur from falling to remain on screen during the Exfil sequence.
- Fixed an issue causing Players to experience a black screen during the Exfil sequence if they were previously waiting to redeploy.
- Fixed an issue causing the Cash Rat Emblem to not appear when a Player redeems the free World Series of Warzone Bundle

Personal Supply Box New Lootable Supply Box | All Maps & Modes

- Positive effects include:
- Movement Speed increased by 8%
- Damage with Melee Weapons or while Unarmed increased by 50%
- Lunge Distance increased to 3.2 meters, up from 1.4 meters while standing
- Melee Stun Power increased by 50%
- Negative effects include:
- Players have a louder presence
- Visible “Rage” effects on the Operator
- Stun & Flash Vulnerability increased by 40%
- This effect can be countered by the Battle Hardened perk.
Quality of Life
- Precision Airstrikes
- Improved the Precision Airstrike danger UI notification to be more consistent with where the Airstrike target is and any nearby enemies.
- Implemented a fix for Precision Airstrikes sometimes not hitting near the targeted site – instead hitting the Player from behind unexpectedly
- This would occur in rare situations where a Player is positioned considerably higher above the target when launching the strike.
- Added a danger UI notification if the Player calling in a Cluster Strike or Precision Airstrike is too close to the targeted site.
- Precision Airstrikes will continue to shoot through glass, balconies and wall-bang penetrable buildings.
In the absence of any recent changes to the Precision Airstrike behavior, we’ve still seen an uptick in Player sentiment and discussion around Precision Airstrikes lately. As such our engineering team have completed a detailed review of the system to make sure it is working as intended and as a result have made some changes to further improve and optimize the system.
- C4 Ground Loot Appearance
- Unlooted C4 will now sit horizontally
We felt that C4 and ground loot Perks were too similar in appearance and presentation, so we’ve updated C4 to make it more distinguishable visually when compared to a vertically standing ground loot Perk satchel.
- Gas Mask Auto / Manual Equip Setting
- Added functionality to the Quick Inventory Menu to allow the user to toggle the Gas Mask on/off.
- Note: This option is only available if the user opts into the manual Gas Mask toggle in the Settings Menu.
- Added functionality to the Quick Inventory Menu to allow the user to toggle the Gas Mask on/off.
We have made many targeted Quality of Life improvements to the auto Gas Mask behavior over the course of this year, and with it being in a much better place for all of our Players – now is the time to take the next step to give Players more agency and control over their experience with a Manual Equip setting.
- Buy Station Updates
- The new Supply Box UAV Killstreak has been added to the Buy Station inventory.
- The Buy Station inventory will now scroll in order to display all available options.
- Loadout Drop Markers remain at the bottom of the list for ease of access because we know how important muscle memory is…
- Loadout Crate UI Selection In-Season
Speaking of knowing how important muscle memory is…- Added a setting that allows the Loadout interface to remember the last Loadout that was selected.
During Season Four we made a change to optimize the Loadout interface so that the cursor selection starts at the top of the list. Whilst we heard positive feedback on this change, we also heard feedback from others that this was less optimized for their playstyle. Enjoy!
- Plane Respawn FunctionalityBattle Royale Modes | In-Season
- Planes will no longer respawn once they have been destroyed.
- This change does not apply to “respawn” Modes, i.g. Plunder.
Perks
Serpentine
- Fire Damage no longer decreased.
- Explosive Damage no longer decreased.
- Players must now be tac sprinting for Serpentine to be effective
- This change will arrive later this season
Serpentine continues to be a top-3 pick in the blue Perk category after Season Four Reloaded’s update. As a result, we’re removing the bonus protection to Fire and Explosive Damage. This should also restore the value to E.O.D that Serpentine had cannibalized.
Later in the season we’ll be making an additional change that causes Serpentine to only be in effect while Tactical Sprinting, instead of regular sprint.
Battle Hardened
- Stun and Flash resistance increased to 80%, up from 50% and 70% respectively.
We felt we could bring more value to Battle Hardened, especially as it is now present as a lootable ground Perk, with our target for the effects of Stun and Flash to be mitigated to less than a second with the Perk equipped. Some Players may wonder why this change is happening now, to which our reply is that there may be a surprise in-store during Season Five that warrants this change.
Weapons
Season Five is all about widening options even further by addressing the top performers to be more in-line, along with lifting up both individual Weapons and classes of Weapons that are under-utilized.
- Vanguard Marksman Rifles now have Assault Rifle Ammunition
We’ve made a large amount of changes to these Weapons and expect to make some more following Season Five launch so that these Weapons are viable, but we don’t see a repeat of the DMR 14 (BOCW) meta.
- Variable Scopes (3-6 & 4-8) have been adjusted significantly
They now have a glint on them, reduced recoil control, and adjusted ADS time. This will have a significant impact on the long-range playstyle, enabling wider options and not total domination from Vanguard Assault rifles.
- Aggressive and Heavy sniper rifles will see a large reduction
Snipers are in a good spot, but we’re not done with them yet. Combined with the above, we are expecting many viable options and variability in long-range engagements.
- EX1(VG) balancing
In Call of Duty®: Warzone™ we’ve made some substantial differences to the EX1(VG) to better accommodate BR gameplay vs Vanguard multiplayer gameplay. The EX1(VG) has limited ammunition, increased recoil and substantially lower bullet velocity.
- EX1: Assault Rifle (VG)
- A prototype energy rifle effective at long range and highly customizable.
- Available at Battle Pass Tier 15
- RA 225: Submachine Gun (VG)
- This SMG has a high fire rate and a very mobile compact frame.
- Available at Battle Pass Tier 31

- Vertical Recoil Control increased to 15%, up from 12%
- ZAC 12B Custom
- Initial Firing Recoil increased to 14%, up from 10%
- Movement Speed penalty decreased to -3%, up from -4%
The unquestioned strength of the AS44 (VG) was encroaching on the sub-machine gun class and less its Assault Rifle brethren. We’re making a modification to the close-range damage profile and compensating with more recoil control, enabling the Weapon to perform as a more reliable Sniper-Support.
Assault Rifle Charlie (VG)

- ADS Time Penalty increased to -5%, up from -2.5%
- VDD 22G Padded
- Recoil Control decreased to 12.5%, down from 14%
The KG M40 (VG) continued to climb after the last round of adjustments, so we’re making a further reduction of its long-range damage profile combined with some reasonable accuracy adjustments. The result is a Weapon that should exist firmly in the camp of “Newcomer friendly” but other Weapons will be preferable for higher skilled Players.

Season Four Reloaded’s newcomer struggled to find a firm identity in the long-range AR class. We’re making some all-round modifications to smoothen out the experience, while compensating for the slightly below average Torso damage profile with the most generous “Critical Box” of the Vanguard Assault Rifles, with the Neck now matching the Headshot multiplier.
