Warzone players beg Raven to buff “unusable” Shotguns
Warzone Pacific players are upset with the state of Shotguns in Season 3 Reloaded and are calling for the developers to buff the “unusable” weapon class.
The Warzone Pacific Season 3 Reloaded update brought several balancing adjustments to the popular Call of Duty battle royale title, including buffs and nerfs to many different weapons in the game.
Players were extremely disappointed with the Shotgun damage nerfs in the new update, with many calling for the removal of the weapon class in its current state. Others are asking the developers to implement a major buff in a new update.
The Warzone Pacific Season 3 Reloaded update introduced notable damage nerfs to the Streetsweeper, Gallo, JAK-12, Origin 12, R9-0, and Gracey Auto Shotguns, much to the frustration of players.
In a clip posted in the Warzone subreddit, Reddit user ‘V_I_N_E_S’ highlighted the problem with the nerfs. It showed the player landing in front of an opponent and shooting them point-blank with a Shotgun.
Even though the enemy was hit by a direct headshot from up close, they did not die before being shot a second time. The Redditor then stated: “A pump shotgun point-blank to the face should still one shot.”
Many of the commenters agreed with this sentiment, claiming that the damage nerfs introduced to Shotguns in the Warzone Season 3 Reloaded update have not had a positive impact on gameplay.
One user wrote: “Shotguns should be way more powerful at very short range. It’s bizarre that they’ve made them completely unusable.”
Shotguns are meant to be extremely effective at close-range, so the fact that it takes two shots at point-blank range to take down opponents came as shock to fans. The replies were filled with players calling for the developers to buff this weapon class in a future update.
One of the commenters stated: “They were already situational, but now there is no point in running almost any Shotgun except for the two-shot one from Vanguard and hope that you land both shots.”
While many players were understandably upset by these changes, a few of the commenters claimed that this change helps make the game more balanced by ensuring that you can’t be eliminated in just a single shot.
One player claimed: “It’s a video game people. If I was constantly being one-shotted by a Shotgun or any other gun in a BR, I would be moving on to a different game.”
Many players in the thread shared their own suggestions for how Raven Software can address this problem, with a few suggesting more damage changes in a future Warzone Pacific update patch.
One user suggested: “Realistically, a slug should take you down from 20m too, but a balanced way would be to just have a heavy dropoff. 1m they die and 2m only takes a little under half health, so at least camping is harder.”
At the time of writing, it remains to be seen whether or not Raven Software will take these suggestions seriously and implement similar changes in a future update. If there are any further changes to the Shotgun class, we’ll be sure to let you know.
