Warzone players find perfect real-life alternative to Rebirth Island

Warzone’s Rebirth Island offers a smaller and faster-paced alternative to Caldera, and players have now found the perfect real-life location if Raven Software were to ever create another Resurgence-based map.

Rebirth Island, based on Blackout’s Alcatraz, hit Warzone with Black Ops Cold War’s integration in December 2020. Since then, it’s become an integral part of the CoD battle royale experience thanks to its smaller size and Resurgence mechanics.

Players begged for Rebirth Island to stay after Warzone Pacific arrived, and it did, but now players have found the perfect location if Raven Software were to add another Resurgence-based map alongside Rebirth.

A Reddit user pointed out that Hashima Island off the coast of Nagasaki, Japan, “would make such a good” map to arrive alongside Rebirth Island as another fast-paced experience.

This real-life island is famously featured in the James Bond movie Skyfall and bears a strong resemblance to Raven Software’s version of Alcatraz Island.

Hashima is densely packed with buildings such as apartment complexes, so it would have a much more urban feel than Rebirth. Plus, because it’s off the coast of Japan, it could match Warzone Pacific’s WW2 aesthetic.

Many players in the comments were excited at the prospect of a new Resurgence map – but not if it replaced Rebirth Island.

User ‘tFearn117’ said that “ I really want them to add more resurgence maps; I love Rebirth, sure, but that’s pretty much all my squad wants, and that tiny map gets old. Surely, since it’s so much smaller than the main BR, they could add at least 2-3 more and rotate them.”

However, there’s a wide-open area overlooked by the cliffs in the center, and players weren’t keen on how many tall rooftops there were. They said that the map would need to be reworked if it made its way to Warzone. Several buildings and landmarks were also added to Alcatraz Island when it became Rebirth, so there’s a strong chance this would happen.

Neither Activision nor Raven Software have teased that another small map would come to Warzone, so this is purely speculation for now. But, if Warzone’s devs wanted to add another map, Hashima would be an excellent choice.
