Following the announcement of the MX Guardian Shotgun coming in Warzone 2 Season 4 Reloaded, fans are “scared” as the devs claim it will be even better than the already deadly KV Broadside.

Warzone 2 Season 4 Reloaded is due to arrive on July 12, bringing the long-awaited Resurgence map rotation feature, alongside a crossover with Amazon’s The Boys, which adds new Operators, the Temp-V Field Upgrade, and the Diabolical Camo event.

The mid-season update is also adding a brand-new weapon in the form of the MX Guardian Shotgun, available through the Season 4 Battle Pass.

However, following the reveal of the new weapon, fans are already concerned that the Shotgun is going to wreak havoc on the close-range meta.

In the Season 4 Reloaded blog announcing the MX Guardian, the devs claimed the Shotgun is set to overtake the KV Broadside. The Season 2 weapon had to be nerfed considerably after its release as it quickly began to dominate lobbies, and it remains one of the most popular guns in Warzone 2 to this day.

The devs said: “While the KV Broadside reigned supreme in close to mid-range engagements for a time, the MX Guardian has arrived to usurp the close-range crown.”

This left many players concerned about how powerful the MX Guardian will be, with Reddit user ‘Knight-112’ joking that they are “doomed” when it arrives, before commenting: “An automatic shotgun that’s good up to mid-range and is stronger than the KV. I’m scared.”

Plenty of other players agreed with the OP, expressing concerns that another powerful Shotgun will be a “nightmare” to play against, especially considering the range it is expected to have.

“One has to wonder in what universe they would consider a fully auto shotgun reigning supreme in engagements up to mid-range being an acceptable thing,” said one reply, with another adding: “Lord have mercy on us when this thing lands.”

Meanwhile, others took issue with the devs seemingly being aware that the KV Broadside has been a dominant choice in Warzone 2 and making light of it.

“What’s more annoying is they make it sound like its a funny thing and good for gameplay that a broken, overpowered gun was dominating any and all close-quarter gunfights,” argued another player. “How they think wording the new shotgun this way would make people excited is beyond me.”

Only time will tell what kind of impact the MX Guardian has on the meta in Warzone 2 Season 4 Reloaded. While the devs seem confident it will overtake the KV Broadside, it has work to do to replace the ISO 45 and Lachmann Sub as the go-to close-range weapons.
