Call of Duty: Warzone’s ping mechanic seems to have been nerfed in Season 3

Warzone’s ping mechanic that lets players tag other enemies seems to have been negatively impacted in Season 3 of the battle royale.

An essential aspect of CoD: Warzone is the ability to ping the exact location of an enemy to your teammates with a distinctive marker. But players believe that its powers have been nerfed during Season 3, and the issue continues to be overlooked.

Communication and cohesion are important ingredients in any game of duos, trios, or quads. Unless you’re one of the world’s elite Warzone players like NICKMERCS, Aydan, or Swagg, then sticking together and constant chatter is a massive key to victory in Warzone.

One of the ways in which players can do this is by pressing the correct action button to ping the location of weapons, special items, and enemy locations. But its powers appear to have been diminished for quite some time now.

Usually, if you see an enemy in Warzone, you press the relevant button for your chosen platform, and a red diamond will appear above the enemy’s head.

This is exactly what Reddit user aur0n did a few weeks ago, and the marker behaved irrationally, or perhaps normally if this is a deliberate decision choice by Raven Software.

Once the player marked the enemy, the opponent sought cover behind a rock, and instead of the marker sticking around for a few seconds, it disappeared almost immediately.

aur0n even posted a follow-up post to their original post saying, “Happened multiple times now, at first I thought I accidentally cleared pings, but now it’s happening very frequently and always when enemies take cover or run away. Not complaining, I think they were super OP, I just think is weird nobody noticed and Raven didn’t mention this change at all in their recent patch notes…”

It wasn’t just aur0n who’s noticed the sudden change in the gameplay element with another user also commenting on its potential alteration, insinuating that it may actually be a bug: “I think this is a bug because this has been happening to me a lot as well. When a live ping drops off it is supposed to become a general “area” ping, but instead it is completely vanishing. Also, it no longer plays the alert sound for you or your teammates.”

After these initial complaints, it seems like the issue is still lingering in Warzone Season 3. A new Reddit post has asked, “Raven, please fix live pings.”

The poster has said, “I am so tired of live pinging someone and it disappearing instantly. It’s so frustrating because it’s not like it leaves a regular ping in its place so my teammates will have no idea where to look.

This isn’t a bug that’s been in the game long it’s a brand new bug to a ping system they don’t even touch so how does it even happen?”

We’ll have to wait on confirmation from Raven Software to ascertain whether this is a deliberate move or if it is indeed a bug in the system.

If not addressed, then the ping marker problem will probably continue into Warzone Season 4.

Warzone Season 5 Reloaded’s Iron Trials ’84 mode has been received exceptionally well by the community, with the developers now teasing a custom lobby option for the future.

Warzone Season 5 Reloaded didn’t just shift the weapon meta with buffs and nerfs. It also introduced arguably Warzone’s most successful limited-time mode, Iron Trials ’84.

Despite replacing Duos, Iron Trials has been received very well by players, with some even asking the developers to make the mode permanent.

As the mode has been enjoyed so much by players, it seems the devs are planning to provide players with an option for it in custom lobbies, as a new tweet suggests.

Iron Trials ’84 is Warzone Season 5’s new mode that players have loved as of recent. Boasting a higher time to kill, reimagined loot, and a lack of free loadouts, Iron Trials was introduced as Warzone’s toughest mode yet.

Some players have loved the mode so much that they have been asking the developers to keep it in the game permanently and possibly use it as the base of a new ranked mode that players have wanted for so long.

Although there is no confirmation about Iron Trials staying in the game, especially as it is still set to be removed on September 30, the devs have teased the mode coming to custom lobbies.

In a recent tweet, JGOD asked Raven Software, “Any chance Iron Trials can be added to the Customs options in tomorrow’s playlist Update?”

Raven then responded that there were no plans to add it in the upcoming playlist update but didn’t rule out its arrival in the future.

“As for customs… it’s not coming 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸 is all we can say for now.”

At the end of this sentence, the winky face definitely points to future plans to bring this mode to custom lobbies, so the community can enjoy it whenever they want.

Hopefully, players will see more of Iron Trials for Warzone’s future, and perhaps they plan to carry it through to Call of Duty: Vanguard when the game integrates with Warzone.

Warzone players are always looking for new ways to gain an upper hand on opponents, and if you’re looking to use movement to outwit your enemies, slide canceling is a must-have tool in your armory. 

Warzone Season 5 Reloaded introduced various new changes to the battle royale, including weapon buffs and nerfs, as well as a brand-new Iron Trials ’84 mode. However, the mechanics remain the same.

Great movement can often mean the difference between victory and defeat. Slide canceling is easily the most important trick you can use to improve your mobility in combat during a Warzone match.

How to slide cancel on PC in Warzone

Anyone who played Modern Warfare will be well aware of slide canceling, and it’s still an incredibly useful trick to wield in Warzone. It lets you chain together Tactical Sprints to move much faster than usual.

To do it on PC, you’ll need to change some keybinds to make it possible, but the mechanic is helpful no matter which platform you play on. Just go into the key settings and Rebind your left CTRL-key to “Change Stance/Slide.”

This will let you go prone while pressing that key. Here’s how you can slide cancel in Warzone:

  1. Double-tap your left Shift button to start Tactical Sprinting
  2. Hold the left CTRL key to slide while you’re in the middle of your Tactical Sprint
  3. Immediately press CTRL again to crouch, so you return to a standing position.

How to slide cancel on consoles in Warzone

Slide canceling is much easier to do when playing Warzone with a controller. Here’s how you can get it done:

  1. Double-tap the left analogue stick to activate Tactical Sprint
  2. Hold Circle/B to start sliding
  3. As soon as the slide begins, tap Circle/B again to crouch
  4. Press X/A to return to a standing position

As soon as you hit the ground, tap it again to stand back up and repeat the process. Knowing how to Warzone slide cancel is easy in theory but will take some practice to master.

Hopping into a private match in Warzone will help you learn how to control it without worrying about enemies trying to pick you off.

A new set of changes have arrived for Call of Duty: warzone with the September 23 update patch notes that have been revealed by Raven Software.

Season 5 Reloaded has brought major changes to the world of Warzone with The Numbers Event, Mobile Broadcast Stations, Iron Trials ’84, and various weapon buffs and nerfs.

However, Raven Software is still working on the Call of Duty battle royale to ensure it is the best it can be with the Warzone September 23 update patch notes set to bring game-changing alterations to the game.

Two of the most significant changes in the Warzone September 23 update patch notes are no doubt a nerf to the Bullfrog SMG and a slight buff for the Krig 6 Assault Rifle.

Modes

Iron Trials ’84

The following changes are exclusive to the Iron Trials ’84 mode:

  • Buy Stations
    • The Specialist Token has been added
    • Supply Run discounts are now 50% on every item except Team Redeploy (100%), Loadout Drop Marker (10%), and Specialist Token (10%)
    • The Hardline Perk now gives a 25% discount to every item except Self Revive (20%), Loadout Drop Marker (10%), and Specialist Token (20%)

We suspect very few people will be able to say they’ve purchased a Specialist Token. However, we do feel there is an opportunity to provide high tier Players with additional impactful outlets for their hard earned resources. Additionally, further enabling purchasing power with Hardline is something we would like to continue to explore.

  • Contracts
    • Contract Cash rewards (per Player) have been reduced. Multiplier values are unchanged.
      • Recon
        • $1,300 down to $1,100
      • Scavenger
        • $2,500 down to $1,600
      • Bounty
        • $3,800 down to $2,500
      • Supply Run
        • $1,300 down to $1,200

We recognize that this may be a polarizing change, but we feel it is a necessary one. When we gate access to Loadouts behind a large price tag, as is the case, we force players to continue moving around the map. This works to disincentivize camping. While we do not anticipate this change will have a large impact on the most skilled Players – those who stay put and avoid engagements will find themselves resource strained and quickly falling behind. This is part of how we subtly encourage map movement and fighting. Additionally, we feel scavenging, being resourceful, and barely scraping by is part of what adds to the charm and intensity of the Trials. This dynamic makes room for, and emphasizes other facets of skill like movement, teamwork, strategy, and map knowledge. By delaying Loadout acquisition, we are further smoothing out player power such that each increase to it is much more noticeable and allows more room for those secondary skillsets to shine. We will be monitoring the mode and Player feedback closely to ensure this change is having the intended effect.

  • Gulag
    • Light Machine Guns (except the RPD (BOCW)) and all Tactical Rifles have been removed from Gulag Loadouts.

We feel an emphasis on Submachine Guns and Assault Rifles better suits this version of the Gulag.

  • Melee
    • Weapons will no longer deal more than 120 damage per melee hit.
       
  • Loot
    • Armor Satchel, Gas Mask, and Self Revive drop rates have been reduced
    • Ground Loot XM4 (BOCW) attachments have been updated
    • Ground Loot Bullfrog (BOCW) attachments have been updated

The XM4 (BOCW) and Bullfrog (BOCW) Attachments are now more closely aligned with popular builds.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed additional collision issues with various elements on Rebirth Island allowing Players to exploit/peek/shoot through them.
  • Fixed an issue with the Bullfrog (BOCW) that reduced recoil while firing.

Weapons

Submachine Guns

  • Bullfrog (BOCW)
    • ADS Speed decreased by 9%
    • Movement Speed decreased by 1%
    • ADS Movement Speed decreased by 2%

The Bullfrog (BOCW) is a true jack of all trades. It has great Mobility, Effective Damage Range, Handling, and base Magazine Capacity – which would often act as a free Attachment. These changes, in conjunction with a Recoil bug fix, will bring the Bullfrog (BOCW) much closer to the competition. 

  • Shotgun Bravo (BOCW)
    • Maximum Damage Range decreased from 4.5 to 3.5 meters
    • Second Damage Range decreased from 8.1 to 5.5 meters
    • Third Damage Range decreased from 13.2 to 9.9 meters

The Shotgun Bravo (BOCW) has been incredibly dominant due to its Effective Damage Range, Magazine Capacity, Mobility, and Rate of Fire. By reducing its Effective Damage Ranges, the Shotgun Bravo (BOCW) will begin to feel more like a Shotgun and less like a Sniper.
