Black Ops 6 Zombies brings a load of new content and changes to the undead mode, as there are plenty of gameplay updates for players to get to grips with.

On top of GobbleGums, there are many returning features that veteran Zombies players will be familiar with. However, if you’re more interested in the new features and quality-of-life updates, here are all the big gameplay changes coming to Zombies in BO6.

Shared door buys

In Black Ops 6 Zombies, some doors allow you to split the cost, sharing the Essence amount between you and your squad.

This brand-new feature for Zombies will make progression through the map easier, as you no longer need to worry about who will buy the next door. It also gets rid of that awkward situation in public games where players are waiting around for others to buy the door.

It’s not entirely clear how it will work, but we assume that you can pay half and then will have to wait for a teammate to pay the rest. The CoD blog also states that only “some” doors will allow you to perform this action, so you’ll still need to grind Essence to get through the map efficiently.

One rarity of Salvage

There is only one Salvage rarity in Black Ops 6 Zombies, as opposed to having common and High-Grade Salvage. It’s also now player-specific, so you don’t need to worry about teammates coming to steal your Salvage before you can get to it.

Salvage are the small piles of junk with a green outline that drop randomly from fallen enemies. You can spend Salvage to upgrade and apply Ammo Mods to weapons at The Arsenal Machine. You can also use it to build Equipment using the Crafting Table.

Guided Main Quest

The developers are also bringing a new guided mode to Zombies that will help players complete the Main Quest Easter egg. In this mode, players will receive guidance and rounds will be capped to certain stages of the Main Quest.

There will also be no Side Quests or any other Easter eggs in this mode, as it’s solely to complete the Main Quest.

This mode is separate from the standard Zombies experience, where players will need to investigate and find the steps to the Easter egg themselves. Its arrival will be delayed from launch and any new map release in the future to “protect the sanctity” of the traditional Easter egg hunt.

Save and quit feature

The Black Ops 6 devs announced that there will be a save and quit feature exclusively for Solo runs. This allows you to save your progress in Zombies at any time, so long as you have full health and aren’t down, dead, or in the middle of an exfil. You can then load the saved file and continue where you left off.

Players can either manually save the game, or, if you’re AFK for a long time after pausing, the game will automatically save.

This is especially useful when a match is disrupted by server or internet-related issues. You can also join matches in BO6 Zombies too, so if you’re booted from the game, just join the host to get back in.

Ominimovement

That’s right, omnimovement is a vital aspect of Black Ops 6’s movement and is in all of the game’s modes, including Zombies. This new movement mechanic allows players to sprint, slide, jump, and dive in all directions, innovating the way players move around in Call of Duty.

This could be huge in Zombies, as it will make movement a lot faster and more fluid, which will be essential when a big hoard of Zombies is after you, especially when you reach higher rounds.

Third person

For the first time ever in Zombies, players will be able to switch in and out of first and third person.

This new perspective allows players to experience the undead mode from a different point of view, allowing you to watch your character in action as they fight waves on zombies, as opposed to being locked into first-person.

HUD options

New HUD options are coming for Zombies too, as players can opt for a variety of different presets.

This includes a Legacy setting that removes the minimap and resembles a layout more similar to that of Black Ops 3. You can also turn off health bars and damage numbers too, creating a more classic Zombies experience.

Augments

Alongside GobbleGums, Perks, and your loadout, Black Ops 6 Zombies brings brand-new Augments, which add another dimension to customization. These Augments will make huge changes to gameplay, impacting your Perks, Field Upgrades, and Ammo Modes.

You can check out examples of how it will impact gameplay and read a full breakdown on how they work in our Augments guide.

Change Field Upgrades & GobbleGums in-game

In Black Ops 6 Zombies, you can change aspects of your loadout in-game via the menu, such as GobbleGum packs and Field Upgrades.

You’ll also be able to drop and swap weapons with teammates, which is a feature we haven’t seen before in Zombies. So, if you get the new Beamsmasher Wonder Weapon but want your friend to try it out, now you can easily drop it for them.

With two launch maps for Zombies in Black Ops 6, both Terminus and Liberty Falls will certainly keep players occupied for some time, especially those who want to complete the Main Quest without the help of the guided mode.

The undead mode offers so much, but Black Ops 6 has a lot more to give, as the multiplayer and action-packed campaign will also be available on launch, and we’ll get more details on those during the Call of Duty Next event.
