Black Ops 3 DLC Packs can no longer be purchased separately on PC (Steam), only available via Season Pass

With the release of the Descent DLC Pack 3 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on PC this past week, Activision appears to have changed the way they are releasing DLC content for PC players.

As of now, PC players can no longer buy Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC Packs individually. In order to get access to Descent DLC Pack 3, players must buy the entire Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Season Pass. Even more, DLC Pack 1 Awakening and DLC Pack 2 Eclipse have been removed from the Steam Store and the only way to obtain those — if you do not already have it — is by purchasing the Season Pass.

Activision Support confirmed this change in the Descent DLC Pack Support article on support.activision.com. The article, at the very bottom, reveals that individual DLC packs “can no longer be purchased separately on PC.” If players already purchased DLC 1 and/or DLC 2, the Season Pass will be available at a discounted price but the discount has not been revealed by Activision. The price will probably match the discount offered on consoles with the Complete Your Season Pass offer.

Individual DLC map packs can no longer be purchased separately on PC. You must purchase Season Pass in order to obtain DLC map packs. If you have previously purchased DLC 1 and/or DLC 2 separately, you will have the option to purchase Season Pass at a discounted rate. This discount is redeemable via Steam coupon and will only be visible while you are logged into your Steam account and have added the Season Pass to your cart.

Treyarch’s PC Dev has stated on Twitter that he is looking into the change and clarified that he has no control over how content is distributed, as that is all in Activision’s hands. He also said that he is actively looking into a possible solution with Activision.

It is unclear exactly why Activision decided to make this change, as console players can still buy DLC Packs separately.
