Black Ops 3 features a social system that spans across all three modes of the game – UPDATE
UDPATE: Treyarch has just clarified on Twitter that the Safe House feature is limited to the Campaign Only. But, the social architecture works across all modes, and that is a separate feature.
Original Story:
Back in April, with the reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Treyarch announced a new Safe House feature. The Safe house was a area where players are able to go to after every campaign mission to re-group, use your XP to unlock customization, and more. The Safe House feature is only for the campaign.
However, in an interview with EDGE, Mark Lamia has confirmed that they have a separate feature for social that is part of their updated matchmaking system; this new social system (that is separate from the Safe House) that will span across all three modes (Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies) of the game.
“We’re architecting our own social system layer that’s going to arc over all three of the modes,” comments Lamia. “You’re going to know where friends are and what they’re playing. When we looked at data from Black Ops 2, we discovered that people were playing multiple game modes in a single session, and we realized we had to make that easier, especially now we have a co-op experience.”
“You shouldn’t have to rely on anyone else’s tech. We want people to have fun and experience all three modes.”
Treyarch has also mentioned that this year’s title will allow players to seamlessly transition between the three modes.
