Black Ops 6 devs reveal how slow TTK compares to BOCW

The time-to-kill (TTK) is always a hot topic when a new Call of Duty is on the way and the Black Ops 6 devs have revealed where their next installment sits compared to previous games.

Adjusting how long it takes to kill an enemy has a major impact on how a game feels to play. Titles with a faster TTK are seen as less forgiving with a lower skill gap while needing more shots for an elimination slows things down and gives you a chance to react.

At CoD Next, Treyarch revealed that Black Ops 6 will be on the slower side of things, as they claimed the TTK is only “slightly faster” than their previous game – Black Ops Cold War. While they didn’t provide any specific numbers, this would make BO6 one of the slowest in the series to date.

For context, BOCW’s TTK was fairly similar to Modern Warfare 3 (2023) depending on the situation, occasionally taking more or less time based on the weapon, range, and body parts hit. While these two battled it out for the second-slowest spot, Black Ops 4 is easily the longest TTK we’ve seen so far.

The slower TTK gives omnimovement more room to shine.

So, based on what the devs have said, the guns in Black Ops 6 will kill quicker than players have grown used to in MW3, but nowhere near as fast as Modern Warfare (2019) or MW2 (2022).

This lines up with what CoD experts like TheXclusiveAce expected based on early footage, as the data he collected placed the average TTK of Assault Rifles at around 320ms, which is very similar to BOCW.

We’ll have to wait until the Black Ops 6 beta gets underway on August 30 to see exactly how this feels in action. But a slow TTK paired with the news that all Sniper Rifles can one-shot kill means we could see a Sniper meta in this year’s multiplayer.
