Black Ops 6 players furious as “pay to lose” skin makes it impossible to aim
ActivisionBlack Ops 6 players have lashed out at a paid weapon skin that actually puts users at a disadvantage by making it almost impossible to keep track of enemies.
Paid skins and bundles have become the norm in Call of Duty titles, with each entry delving further into monetization and experimenting with wild ideas such as the recently datamined ‘bong’ skin. As wacky as these skins get, they don’t intend to provide players with a competitive advantage. That’s not to say that there haven’t been any skins accused of being ‘pay to win‘ over the years, a primary example being the infuriating Roze skin that wrecked Warzone.
While the notion of a paid skin offering some sort of a gameplay buff is fairly digestible, no one expects them to make things more difficult. This looks to be the case with the Occult PP-919 skin which comes with an extremely disorienting iron sight.
As seen in this clip shared by Reddit user ‘Ok-Agency3679,’ the animated elements of the skin end up blocking the iron sight, making it difficult to spot enemies just meters away from the player. In response to the clip, users in the comments minced no words as they voiced their displeasure with the “pay to lose” skin.
One user said, “They got rid of their QA because people will still play no matter how sorry of a state the game is in. No respect for their consumers and a majority of the consumers don’t even care.” Another user stated, “Zero QA. People don’t learn and the devs that make this shit will continue to not give a s**t about you.”
This isn’t the only case of a paid skin negatively impacting player experience as another popular Reddit post highlighted the Salutations BlackCell Saug blueprint for the same reason last week. In this case, the skin featured an animated flame right above the iron sight which made aiming unnecessarily difficult.
It remains to be seen if the devs address these issues with a fix in the future. For the time being, Treyarch seems to be busy with new content releases like the Citadelle des Morts Zombies map alongside changes to the Black Ops 6 weapon meta.
